• Case distributed a week in advance
• 2 chances to ask questions
• One day, two rounds (morning and afternoon)
• 15 minute presentation, 15 minute Q&A
• Top 3 teams from first round advance to second
round

Case Information and
Evaluation
Case:
•
Provided at 8 AM on Saturday, Feb 2nd
•
Will be a real business problem facing SCE – (last year’s case: calculating
holding limits and creating a strategic plan for a utility company when
California’s green house gas (GHG) cap and trade emission program goes into
effect in 2013)
Participation:
•
Teams of four
•
Open to all UCLA Anderson students
•
Cross functional teams encouraged
•
Judges: Panels of judges provided by sponsors
•
Prize: Will be offered (amount TBD)

Additional Details
•
The top team from each room of the first round (held in the morning) will
advance to the final round (held in the afternoon). The final agenda for the
competition will be mailed to all participants after registration.
•
The case will be distributed at 8 AM , February 2nd. Once the Case is
distributed, outside assistance (professors, industry, professional, other
students, etc) is NOT acceptable. Procuring such assistance is prohibited
and will result in the team being disqualified from this and future
competitions.
•
Other than Q&A, no additional information will be provided. Please make
reasonable assumptions if necessary and cite them in your analysis.
•
Teams may submit questions regarding the case or competition rules at any
time until 7 PM Sunday February 3rd. These questions will be compiled and
answers will be emailed to all teams by 5 PM Monday February 4th.

Additional Details
•
All presentations are due by 6:00pm on Thursday February 7th. Presentations
are to be turned in via email. Bring your presentation on a thumb drive on the
day of the event as well.
•
Team presentation order will be determined by random.
•
Teams will be responsible for arranging meeting space on their own prior to
the competition. Teams moving to the second round will be given a breakout
room between rounds to work on their final presentation
