Organization

Coaching Points
Team out of possession must shift/slide as a unit as ball is played around the back by the opponent
Defending team must move as the ball is moving and be ready for the ball played into the middle third
Ball into the middle third must receive immediate pressure
Effective pressure must receive cover from the next closest defender
Remaining defenders must balance of the danger of the ball, the space it can be played to and the unmarked opponents
Marking ball side is a very effective tactic if the pressure on the ball is effective
Diagram Team Shape - Provide Field Dimensions
Organization
8 vs. 8 play
3-3-1 system
Three banks of defense are suggested
The lone forward may not always pressure the ball, but make play
predictable for the midfield and defense behind him/her
No sweeper is employed
All players must be comfortable in being asked to pressure the ball, offer
cover , and balance of the threat of ball/space/opponent
Roles and responsibilities change as the ball moves
