Camp Letter - Hitching Post Farm

Hi Campers and Parents,
I can’t believe it is almost time for camp! Arrival time is anytime
between 8:30 and 11 on Monday, July 11th. All stabling is in the indoor
ring, so just park on the side of the driveway to unload.
For horses, you will need to bring hay and grain/supplements, buckets,
pitchfork and rake, saddle rack, bridle rack and anything riding related
that you use. I recommend 4 or 5 saddle pads to get through the week.
We will provide the bedding. We will have limited turnout available. If
you are using a horse provided by HPF, we will assign horses after
everyone has arrived. Trailers are fine to park at HPF and can house
camper hay and feed and any tack not being used. Plenty of room inside
if a trailer doesn’t stay.
For campers, you will need a camp cot (Wal-Mart has a cheap,
comfortable one) and sleeping bag/pillow, riding clothes for everyday,
shorts, bathing suit, towels, shampoo/soap and sneakers and a raincoat.
No flip flops or crocs in the barn! Sleeping quarters are in our hayloft
dormitory or in tents. You will truly be sleeping with your horse! Please
let me know if you are a vegetarian or have any food restrictions this
week via email. Though cell phones are permitted I ask that campers
wait until the end of the day (after chore time) to make any calls home.
Please talk about it at home and have a plan about when might be a
good time in the evening to talk.
If you are planning on riding in the schooling trial on the weekend (it is
everyone’s goal but not mandatory!) please bring the entry form (no fee,
it is included) even if you are not sure of division. Dress code for the
event is informal, which means light colored pants and a polo shirt.
Jackets are allowed but not necessary. A jumping vest is also required. If
you don’t have one we have a few at the barn to share. For parents,
times can be found on the competition page the day before the event.
If you haven’t paid the remainder, just bring it with you and put the
campers name on the check so I don’t make any mistakes!!
Thank you and please email me with any further questions, Laurie
