Games in Math Expressions

Games in Math Expressions
A note from Dr. Karen Fuson, the author of Math Expressions
I completed a 5-year longitudinal study of Everyday Math. I found that
many teachers did not use the Everyday Math Games – which was
troublesome since most of the practice opportunities required for fluency
were located there. I did not want to repeat that mistake with Math
Expressions. Our fluency practice is embedded in the daily Quick Practice
Activities, the Daily Activities and accompanying Student Activity Book
pages, and in Homework and Remembering. There are game sin Math
Expressions – and they are completely integrated into the Teacher’s Guide
and Student Activity Book. With Math Expressions, there is nothing extra
to buy if you want to incorporate games into your instruction.
