March 4-5 - Lake County Roman Catholic

Stop entertaining those vain
fears. Remember it is not
feeling which constitutes
guilt but the consent to such
feelings. Only the free will is
capable of good or evil. But
when the will sighs under the
trial of the tempter and does
not will what is presented to
it, there is not only no fault
but there is virtue. -Saint Pio
of Pietrelcina
Consider this:
No person asks questions without
knowing they lack perfect
knowledge.
Knowing you lack perfect
knowledge is itself an indicator that
you possess some sense of perfect knowledge or Truth.
We know this Truth as Jesus Christ.

Defending the Faith
Challenge: A good God wouldn't let bad things happen!
Truth: A very good God looked upon sinful man and said, "An eternal injustice
has been done against Me by creatures I do not need. Many more injustices
I will endure because I love them. Tis better that some may secure eternal
beatitude than all be annihilated. My people will endure much, for a time, and this
short time will be forgotten as I embrace them unto endless ages.
Bad News For Women
Did you know
St Benedict, when faced
with a very strong temptation
once threw himself into a thorn bush! O, if we had that horror of sin!
VOL I Issue 5 Mar 5
To the woman He said, "I will greatly multiply Your pain in
childbirth, In pain you will bring forth children;
This seems to imply that women would have had labor pain
even if we hadn't fallen!
After this our exile...
FOOD FOR THOUGHT

What if Eve had
sinned and Adam
had not?

Introduction to the Devout Life
St Francis De Sales
1609
There is no better time
than Lent to up your spiritual
game! St Francis De Sales
has much to say about
temptation, sin, anxiety and
much more! Add this classic
to your library for a sometimes
stern but always uplifting
correction
from a great saint!
An exile it truly is...but only for
a time. The weight we carry can
certainly seem overwhelming at times.
I recall a long period in my life
where I suffered from severe anxiety.
Unseen to me was the root of
this horrible ailment - my own pride!
And how many times are our
sufferings self-inflicted? I would say
most of the time. We certainly run
into situations that aren't our fault
but even then we become culpable
when we deal with it sinfully.
Here is the point: This is an exile,
paradise was not promised in this life,
You may have licit pleasures if
they are not your life's pursuit.
Suffering will come, but, so will
peace, even amidst suffering.
Perseverance is the key and
you only receive that by asking.
So ask for what you need and while
you're waiting be mindful that
you may be what someone else
has prayed for.
PAX,
Gabriel
