Makakatana Bay Lodge is exclusively situated on the banks of Lake St Lucia, the
largest marine lake in Africa, set within the iSimangaliso Wetland Park.
Makakatana remains the only privately owned Lodge set within this pristine
'World Heritage Site'.
This 6 roomed intimate Lodge welcomes you to an elegantly decorated 'home
from home'. An interconnecting walkway leads you to a private camouflaged
bush pool that allows you to sit, unnoticed as you watch the wildlife on and
around the Lake.
Makakatana’s full day benchmark safari is the Boat & Wetland activity which is a
must for those who want to experience the captivating wetlands seeking out
hippo, crocodile, wildlife and the 367 bird species. Makakatana’s private boat
takes guests into untapped areas of the wetland narrows.
Another must is the full day Beach safari which takes guests to explore the
prestine & glorious Indian Ocean coastline on the eastern shores of the park.
The iSimangaliso Wetland Park now hosts buffalo, zebra, elephant, giraffe,
hyena and leopard to mention a few.
