Benefits to a Player Evaluation

THE BENEFITS OF A PLAYER EVALUATION
Benefit to Player:
 Increase Player Morale – when you give the player a direction on what they need to
improve, it will improve their focus during training.
 Improve Player Performance – the player evaluation is a major key to giving the player
something tangible that they can reference to on occasion to see what parts of their
game they need to spend time working on.
 Improve Communication – can help players better understand your thoughts on playing
time, areas of improvement needed, and areas of their strengths.
 Improve Player Retention – Players that know where they stand on the team and what
they need to do to improve their standing in the team are more likely to stay with the
team the following year.
Benefit to Parents:
 Improve Morale – a written player evaluation lets the parents know that their child is
receiving feedback on how to improve.
 Improve Communication – many Coaches do not have time to speak individually to
parents, therefore a written Player evaluation is a great way to get information to
parents and, as a result, improve communication.
 Improve Player Retention – parents that receive feedback on how their child is
developing are more likely to keep their child on the team the following year.
