Rules for the Club Teams of Four League. Matches shall consist of 24 boards. Matches shall be played in stanzas of 6, 8 or 12 boards according to agreement by captains concerned; each will have two results, one with handicap and one without handicap. Scoring is by IMPs converted to Victory Points according to the published scale. It is the responsibility of each captain to pay £12 table money to the Treasurer. Handicaps for each player have been calculated such that they favour the less experienced players. See the published list of handicaps. The team handicap for a match is the total of the individual handicaps of the participating players. If more than 4 are playing in a team for a given match, partnerships may only be changed at the start of a stanza. If a player plays less than 24 boards in a match then his/her handicap is reduced in proportion to the number of boards played. To determine seating rights the two captains will toss a coin. The winner of the toss may then elect to have the right to seat his players after the opponents have seated theirs in either the odd numbered or even numbered stanzas. Teams may consist of 4, 5 or 6 players. A seventh member may be allowed to substitute for an existing member who is incapacitated, by agreement with the competitions secretary Piers Percival. A player may not play for more than one team. Teams having fewer than 6 members may add players during the course of the season. If a player is added to a team who is not on the published handicap list the competitions secretary must be informed before play so that a handicap can be allocated. Master Points will be awarded. In order to qualify for master points a player must play at least one third of the total number of boards played in the match. The first numbered team captain shall offer dates to second team captain. Matches should be played before the published closing dates, preferably on Mondays or Wednesdays and NEVER on the 2nd or 4th Tuesday. Please note when choosing a time that our several classes may have priority over accommodation. An extension may be given provided that both captains ask the competitions secretary for it before the closing date, and that there is real difficulty in fixing a date. The captain of the winning team, having converted IMPs to VPs, should complete the results form making sure that the names of all participating players are included. This may be left on the teams league notice board for Piers to pick up or emailed to [email protected]. The named captain should then upload scratch results to the ebu website: go to ‘My EBU’ using your member number and password. Click ‘utilities’ then ‘leagues’: Click ‘york bridge club league 2016-17’; Add or remove player’s names from your team; Click line of opponents, enter calendar date of match, scratch IMP scores, VP scores, which of your players played, which opposing players played; Click ‘save’. Any difficulties please e-mail the team administrator [email protected]
