Afterword
This photo story is an output from students of an English conversation class during
which they hear only spoken Canadian English; they are encouraged to imitate
the words they hear and are asked to make sense of the spoken language.
Students came to class ranging from upper basic to lower intermediate in their
knowledge of English.
Students communicate in English with their teacher.
Students were given a task in class to write a photo story (5 scenes) with words
learned so far. Students worked in 2-member teams.
Resources used: pictures, list of words taught so far, photo story worksheets.
Teacher acted as a ‘live’ thesaurus, and if all else failed - as an exception - students
were able to access Google Translator for words they absolutely needed to use
in their story.
Students acted out their photo stories in front of the class.
