The 5th International Automotive Conference on 10 and 11 May 2017 at the Fronius manufacturing and logistics site in Sattledt is dedicated to the theme of “Joining Smart Technologies”. Under the chairmanship of Dr. Michael Zürn (Daimler AG), Dr. Florian Öfele (BMW AG), Steffen Müller (Audi AG) and Dr. Klaus Koglin, representatives from important players in the automotive industry will give the gathered experts some important insights into the world of joining technology. “Fascinating presentations from the automotive and component supply industry will be at the heart of the conference, but there will also be a number of intriguing speakers from other sectors too. After all, we need to make sure we look beyond the horizons of just our own industry,” explains Dr. Florian Öfele (BMW AG), the conference’s chairman. Future mobility, Industry 4.0, smart manufacturing and its implications for joining technology will be the main points for discussion. Opening the event will be Kai Gondlach, a futurologist with a knack for lateral thinking from think tank 2bAHEAD, with a talk entitled “Smart mobility – how we will get around in the future”. Contributions from Audi, VW, BMW, Daimler, Fanuc, Magna Steyr, SAP, Arcelor Mittal, Fronius and other major firms will give the delegates an overview of the latest trends and findings affecting manufacturing and R&D. Claus-Dieter Reiniger from Daimler AG will then give his presentation “Flexibility concepts in body manufacturing of the future” before renowned scientist Werner Grube rounds off the highly informative agenda with a special highlight: a presentation on the physics of the Starship Enterprise.
