Barry Spanier:
About ten years ago when Art Szpunar began working with me, I saw an artist with mathematical and scientific skills who, like me,
had a lifelong love of sailing with the wind. He had the skills to immediately take my design catalog and convert it to much more
sophisticated CAD/CAM technology. My own background was much more experiential and success came more from determined,
controlled development rather than the math and science. Art had done a series of graphic look designs in a loose association with
another brand, but the fundamental concepts of shaping and tension were totally new. We would meld them, together.
By committing to pass all of my own long tested design principals to him with no reservations, we began a close working
relationship that has taken me to the point where now I can only say, “Art is so much better than I ever was!”
His talent lies in a place far beyond the 3D tools and numbers. His intense desire to reach obvious performance differences grew
as he understood the proven principals of the shaping/tension relationship. This is the key to achieving consistent easy handling in
synch with higher speeds and rapid maneuvers. The relatively tiny size of windsurfing wings demands equally subtle shaping ideas
to guarantee correct tension through the cycle of takeoff to flight (the joy of sailing).
Over the years, Art quietly and unassumingly took charge of all aspects of design creation. His passion put him on the water nearly
every afternoon, often out sailing alone on a less than stellar day. I know that much as I had always done, there were few moments
when he wasn’t relating his experience to his next design idea. And the sails simply continue to be better and better.
S2Maui is the natural culmination of the transition of my design philosophies, built around years of racing and product success, to
the very capable hands of Artur Szpunar. I will be happy to remain a part of his next dream, and suggest that anyone interested in
experiencing sail and rig design at its best, will find their way to S2Maui.

S2Maui is the heart of a great team. Friends and colleagues, who recognized that our combined dynamic was truly magic and needed
to push forward to the next level. Built on a rock solid legacy of design quality and innovation, driven by passion, we are now free to
create the future. The natural evolution of Barry and my 10 year design collaboration, there are plenty more ideas yet to be unleashed.
I’m incredibly grateful for the experiences of our past work and even more so for the continued support that has opened a door to the
future. Combined with Rick’s incredible business and sales experience together with Casey’s enthusiasm and marketing prowess, we have
the foundation of S2Maui’s dream team. My wonderful wife, amazing daughter and baby boy complete my personal dream team.
My passion for drawing lines on wave faces and playing with the laws of Physics at the mercy of the wind has not faded since I was a kid.
Designing and testing the tools that maximize these experiences go hand in hand. I have found that the best received ”consumer” products
are the authentic and undiluted ones that we dream and design for ourselves and team, so why compromise? This is our design philosophy,
to offer the real deal, best designs and most advanced materials available so that all S2Maui riders can have the true experience.
S2Maui means more than “just business.” It is about friendship, family and passion. It’s about doing things the right way
and working together with a long term vision. It’s about all the loyal supporters and relationships that we have built over
time and the new ones to be developed. S2Maui is a dream that has become reality.

There are few of us lucky enough to say that windsurfing is more than a passion, hobby or career,

backyard Joe. It’s that satisfaction and stoke from you which drives us, and it’s
what we feel ourselves when we test in our own backyard.

Wave and Freeride Range
Overview
Our development goals for S2Maui are quite simple: to build
the sails we always dreamed of, with no compromise, and
ultimate performance, quality and value. To achieve this we
combined our evolved shaping techniques with the lightest,
strongest high performance sail materials we could create.
Maui’s North Shore is our playground and this daily firsthand
testing experience allows us to pinpoint the specific elements
required to develop a concise yet all-encompassing sail range. The
dedicated wave riding Catalyst is for ultimate surf. The amazing
maneuverability, power and wind range of the Dragon make it the “go-to’
performance wave sail. The legendary history of control and versatility in the
design of the Alchemy makes an ideal wave range for the broadest use. Complemented
by the screaming fast Banshee RAF freeride/freerace wing, we introduce S2Maui’s 2016 wave
and freeride range. Progressive shaping concepts match perfectly controlled skin tension and twist profiles in
extremely efficient wings with expanded wind range and response.
We worked closely with our US based materials manufacturer to develop our own unique
technically advanced material styles because we were not satisfied with the poor stretch
and strength characteristics of common, generic “light weight” sail cloths that are easily
available. The result of our collaboration is S2Maui’s exclusive SpaceLight™, warp
oriented Technora™double pass laminates. SpaceLight™ laminates are super light
weight and strong by virtue of the high concentration of Technora™ fibers. Three
times better stretch and tensile strength compared to the standard polyester fiber
construction is the goal. The double pass lamination schedule assures the
strongest adhesive bond and allows for truly vivid colors.

Using the outstanding warp directional stretch
properties to full advantage requires a specific
load path oriented panel layout. Our unique
WARP-PATH™ panel layout aligns the fibers to
best handle downhaul, perimeter, and diagonal
twist loads in an extremely effective manner,
dramatically improving stability and response.
Another key advantage of WARP-PATH™ is
that it still allows us to use the excellent shape
control properties of a vertical/horizontal sail
architecture, something that is typically lost in
other high tech constructions.

Final weight of finished sails is averaging
10% below our previous “light weight” design
efforts, and 15% lighter than current industry
standard, while maintaining superior strength and
durability. On the water, the positive performance
effects of this significant weight reduction
multiply exponentially and become undeniably
magic.

New School Radical Surf
Ultra maneuverable, lightning quick and feather-light, the Catalyst is a surfer’s sail for more
powerful waves and down-the-line conditions. Meticulous attention to shaping details and
plenty of days testing on Maui’s North Shore yield a 3-batten design that flawlessly fits and
breathes with every set wave. The center of effort is perfectly positioned to naturally draw
you into fantasy lines on the wave face, and specialized shaping
techniques deliver the stable profile and good wind range
necessary to handle gusty offshore conditions. The
Catalyst features the power you need to get out and
up to the peak, but once on the wave its lightness,
combined with its smooth transition from power
to neutral, makes the Catalyst disappear in your
hands, and you are left truly surfing.

The Catalyst benefits from the vertical/horizontal
shaping panel configuration, allowing the sail
to maintain excellent skin tension under load,
something uncommon for 3 batten sails. The super
light SpaceLight™ body panels with low stretch
WARP-PATH™ aligned panel layout contributes
to the stability and responsiveness of the sail.
Not to mention it’s ridiculously light.

Power & Agility
The Dragon’s compact, 4 batten profile and balanced shaping delivers the perfect synthesis
of power-on-demand and lightness in the hands. It puts you quickly into position to execute the
most demanding wave maneuvers in down-the-line and onshore conditions alike, transitioning
flawlessly from hard driving bottom turns to neutral off the top. A unique combination of power,
agility, and control make it the weapon of choice on any wave
day for those that want maximum maneuverability and drive
combined with excellent wind range. By virtue of its low
aspect ratio and refined shaping, the Dragon truly has
the equivalent power of traditional sails .2 square
meters larger, which when combined with the
reduced rotational inertia gives a tremendous
maneuverability advantage.

By carefully balancing the sail body tension around a
low aspect ratio 4 batten outline we achieved a truly
magical combination of incredible maneuverability
and light handling together with great drive, power
and wind range. Our all new, light weight and
extremely strong WARP-PATH™ aligned panel
layout and SpaceLight™ laminates bring the sail
to life, not only because of the significant weight
reduction, but also the much improved stretch
characteristics give noticeably better response
and stability.

blaster range delivers race sail power with top end stability and positive

the Banshee is light in the hands and generous on the accelerator.
The center of effort is perfectly balanced low and close to
the rider’s hands and a progressive twist profile provides
