SOUTH WEST GROUP Match Official Selection Process In order to gain promotion from Level 6 (Federation / Society Match Official) to Level 5 (Divisional Match Official Team) the following criteria is in place for Referees: To have officiated in 4 fixtures at Level 6 (minimum level) appointed by Federation/Society (Essential) All reports to be from outside the referees Society (Essential) To have one of the games Video’ d (Desirable) To have been watched by one of the SW Group MOs / Selectors officiating a Level 6+ fixture (Essential) To have officiated in 2 exchange fixtures at Level 6 (Desirable) To nominate a Referee for promotion the Federation must supply the following information: Rugby CV Application Letter 4 x Level 6 RFU Match Observer Reports Federation Recommendation NB – fixtures can include Level 5 / 6, AASE League, BUCs fixtures U18 Academy Nominations: April – Nominations to be received by 1st April 2015 Once nominations have been received for Match Officials who meet the criteria – SW GROUP Development Managers will arrange for a selection Interview to be undertaken. Special Case – Federations have the remit to nominate a Match Official they believe to be exceptionally talented – who at the time of the Selection window does not meet the criteria. A Decision will then be made by the South West Group Managers on the selection process. MATCH OFFICIALS – assessor In order to gain promotion from Level 6 (Federation / Society Match Official) to Level 5 (Divisional Match Official Team) the following criteria is in place for MOs: To have reported on at least 4 fixtures at Level 6 (minimum level) appointed by Federation/Society (Essential) All reports to be on L6 referees and above from the MOs Society (Essential) To have one of the games Video’ d (Desirable) To have been watched by one of the SW Group MOs / Selectors reporting at a Level 6+ fixture (Essential) To have reported on 2 exchange fixtures at Level 6 (Desirable) To nominate a MO for promotion the Federation must supply the following information: Rugby CV Application Letter 4 x Level 6 RFU Match Observer Reports Federation Recommendation NB – fixtures can include Level 5 / 6, AASE League, BUCs fixtures U18 Academy Nominations: April – Nominations to be received by 1st April 2015 Once nominations have been received for Match Officials who meet the criteria – SW GROUP Development Managers will arrange for a selection Interview to be undertaken. COACHES In order to gain promotion from Level 6 (Federation / Society Coach) to Level 5 (Divisional Match Official Team) the following criteria is in place for Coaches: Will have completed or working towards completing RFU Referee Coach Award Will have coached a referee at Federation level for a minimum of one season Will provide evidence of understanding the coaching process through the provision of individual and summative reports. Will commit to working with current Group Coach Development Officer/Coaches for personal development. Will have proved an ability to articulate appropriate coaching philosophies for individual referees. To have been watched by one of the SW Group Executive committee at a game To nominate a Coach for promotion the Federation must supply the following information: Rugby CV Application Letter Reports on coaching a Federation referee Federation Recommendation Nominations: April – Nominations to be received by 1st April 2015 Once nominations have been received for Match Officials who meet the criteria – SW GROUP Development Managers will arrange for a selection Interview to be undertaken.
