Greetings All Croquet Players
Well, winter seems to have struck at last and it now seems like it’s ‘winding down’ time for
croquet players but, haven’t we had a great season and magnificent weather?
COASTAL v SOUTHLAND
This match was played 16/17 March at Forbury Park and Tainui.

Ann Sharp, Murray Goldfinch, Kathleen West and Dorothy Walsh represented us in this inaugural golf croquet event
held at the Waireka Club in Ashburton. As you can see from the photo the weather was glorious and our Otago team,
as well as coming third in the event, really enjoyed the tournament. Don’t they look great in their blue and gold
shirts? Well done Otago!

90th Birthday celebration took place at
Forbury Park Club recently. Moyra Browne has been a
member of Forbury Croquet Club for a number of
years and - is still playing. The member who sent
me this photo described her as “One Amazing Lady”
and she surely is.

INTERCLUB - ASSOCIATION
Our interclub competition this season has been most enjoyable with good competition in both
codes. Weather-wise Tuesdays weren’t always that kind and the wet weather gear was always at
the ready. However, there were definitely no complaints of not getting enough games.

Leith Club welcomed a record number of people to the official OCA closing day.
After the
prize-giving and final peg-out we enjoyed morning tea and a chat The day was also nice
enough to enjoy some games of croquet.

On Wednesday afternoons – 1pm - through the
winter
Leith
Club
are
running
a
games
afternoon. If you would care to join us you are
most welcome. Cost will be $3 and the games
will be Majong, Scrabble, or Card Games –
whatever you fancy. Tea and biscuits provided.
