Installing the CSC® Imaging Utility Through our web-based service called ePrepare®, you can prepare and transmit documents to more than 1200 counties across the country! Our website has been tested compatible with Internet Explorer, Chrome, and Firefox. While we do not officially support other browsers, feel free to try your favorite or visit our Support Webpage for automated testing. If your browser preference is Internet Explorer, we offer the optional CSC® Imaging Utility. This utility is an Internet Explorer ActiveX® add-on and it must be installed on each computer where it will be used. It has the same functionality as the standard toolbar but offers the following unique features: • OCR (Optical Character Recognition) • Ability to direct-scan documents into ePrepare® (a Twain-compliant scanner driver is required) • Ability to resize scanned pages to letter-size (8.5 × 11 inches) or legal-size (8.5 × 14 inches) • Ability to recapture image detail in scanned documents • Ability to register network proxy server credentials (see Tip #5 in the linked guide) • Automated compatibility tests If you do not need any of the features listed above, it is not necessary to install this utility to use our service. Once installed, the utility replaces the standard toolbar with the one shown below: Document preparation with the CSC Imaging Utility Fit text to margins; remove noise, lines, three-hole punches Page back/forward Enter page # to navigate DELETE PAGE NAVIGATION ROTATE PAGE CLEAR MARGINS ZOOM DESKEW PAGE ADJUST PAGE Zoom in/out Fit to screen Straightens crooked scans Moves image on page AUTO CORRECT UNDO AREA SELECTION Delete, Lighten, or Darken user-selected areas Should you later wish to revert to the standard toolbar, simply uninstall the imaging utility through the Windows® Control Panel. Installing the CSC® Imaging Utility To install the imaging utility, follow these three steps: 1. Using Internet Explorer, login to ePrepare® at https://ep4.ingeo.com 2. Click on your username (upper-right corner) and choose Utilities from the menu 3. Click on the button Download/Upgrade the Imaging Utility and follow the instructions continued 2 CSC® eRecording Installing the CSC Imaging Utility Upgrading the CSC Imaging Utility We periodically release new versions of this utility to improve its functionality and add new features. We recommend that you always use the latest version. To upgrade the utility, follow the three steps outlined at the bottom of page 1. During the upgrade process, you may be prompted to close all open Internet Explorer windows so that files in use can be updated. If you choose not to do so and continue with the installation, then these files will be updated the next time you restart your computer. Troubleshooting tips If you should experience any issues with our service, please review the following four suggestions: 1. Using Internet Explorer? Add CSC as a trusted website It is critical to shield your workstation from unverified and malicious websites. However, browser security settings have been known to interfere with the operation of websites known to be safe. If you are unable to open or save documents in ePrepare®, we recommend adding our website (https://ep4.ingeo.com) as a Trusted Site. 2. What to do if your internet browser becomes non-responsive Internet browsers employ some clever strategies to make your browsing experience smoother and faster. They do this by caching (or saving) some of the data for websites that you frequently visit, and they save some website data on your hard drive in the form of small text files, or cookies. If your internet browser becomes non-responsive or slow, it’s possible that some of this data may have become unreadable. A safe first troubleshooting step is to clear your internet browser’s cache and cookies. 3. Only one copy of the utility should be installed on your computer We recommend that you click Windows Start Control Panel Programs Programs and Features and look for the program “CSC® Imaging Utility”. If there are multiple versions installed, we recommend that you uninstall all of them — and then download and install the most current version from our website. 4. If you’ve used ePrepare® prior to August 2013, you may have an outdated imaging utility Using the steps above, look for a program named “Ingeo® Imaging Utility”. If found, you must uninstall it.
