The month of October was a very busy month with all teams commencing the season, Milo registration, birthday parties & our first function for the season, the iPod shuffle night. The iPod shuffle night was a little disappointing with the numbers in attendance; however thanks to those who attended as everyone really did have a good night. Mrs Mary Gray took home the $200 major prize at the end of the night with her song Dancing Queen by ABBA. The next function will be the Pearcedale Casino Night on the 17th of November. On the playing side of things we welcome Jason Rupe (Tootgarook) to the club as well as returning players; Callum Woods (Carrum Downs), Richard Waterman (Carrum Downs), Alex Harnett, Chris Grant, Andrew Wright, Bill Lucas, David Tapolczay, Geoff Smith & last year’s president Neil Custerson back to the playing arena. We have our first T20 match in the Jack Peacock competition vs Tyabb on the Thursday 1st of November at Tyabb starting from 5:30pm. The Jack Peacock competition is a 20/20 knockout competition to find the best team in the Mornington Peninsula with the winning team taking home a $4000 and entry in to the state Kookaburra Cup 20/20 competition, runners up takes home $1000. We are still requiring some senior players for the one day side on Saturdays and the social one day side on Sundays. Helpers Needed: If you are willing to help around the club in anyway, please come and ask how you can help out. Any help is greatly appreciated whether it’s cooking on the BBQ, helping serve tea, cleaning up the rooms or even setting up the ground and scoreboard on game days. We are also in need of more junior parent committee members as we are always looking for new idea & ways to try and improve things at the club. We hold a meeting every 4th Monday of each Monday at the rooms from 7:30pm. Movember: The Pearcedale Cricket Club has joined the Movember cause this year which will try to help raise funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and male mental health. Pearcedale Casino Night Saturday 17th November, 2012 Christmas Party Saturday 15th December, 2012 Seniors: The 1st XI started the season with a draw against Seaford Tigers, due to bad light. Before the fading light, we had been sent in to bat posting a score of 9/145 off our 40 over’s, with Kaine (Rama) Smith 40 & Tim Dudgeon 35. Seaford Tigers started well before Rama with 3/13 off 5 over’s & a run out turned the game back in our favour when Seaford Tigers called for bad light at 7/100. Pat Gamble in his first 1st XI game made 4 and took 1 wicket off his 4 overs. Round 2 we had a bye & round 3 we are playing Carrum Downs at Carrum Downs. First week in and we have set Carrum Downs 198 to win after we made 9/197, with Lachlan Cross hitting 49, Brad (Trotts) Trotter 33no, Warren (Wazza) teGiffel 29 & Rama 27. The 2nd XI lost in round 1 to Seaford Tigers 5/77 after being bowled out for 67. Travis Unthank was the pick of the bowlers with 4/18 off his 10 overs & Gary Thomas the best bat with 27 in his first game for the club. Round 2 we had a bye, we play Carrum Downs at home in round 3 & after day one we have Carrum Downs 1/24 after we made 174, with Braba 58 and Jake Marriner 28. The 3rd XI sit second on the ladder after starting the season with two wins and also have a bye in round three. The first win was against Frankston Ycw who batted first for 8/120 off 40 over’s. The wickets were shared with Bhanu Mangam 2/28 off 7 and a classic catch, Ken (Space) Scott 2/16 off 10, Jake Marriner 2/3 off 3, Alex Harnett 1/26 off 10 & Under 15’s Casey Miller-Trickey 1/22 off 10. We started slowly in the chase before Alex 21 and Chakravarthy (Sonny) Maddala 22 put on 39 to steady the ship before Yokesh (Yoki) Kannan 13no & Under 15’s Luke Jennings 6no added 14 for the last wicket to get us across the line with 9/123. In round two we hosted Peninsula Old Boys who batted first for 129, with Jake Elliott 3/38 off 10 & Space 3/4 off 1.4 over’s after keeping the first 35 over’s, Yes Space. Sonny 23 & David (Braba) Brabazon 42 got us off to a good start with Space 27 & Trotts 35no in for his first game of the season, both getting in on the action to help take the teams total to 5/146. The 4th XI playing on Sundays lost to Hastings in round 1 with Hastings batting first, making 141. Neil (Yarkie) Custerson was the pick of the bowlers capturing 4/14 off 5, Craig (Dicko) Dixon 2/10 off 5, David (Derm) Tapolczay 2/10 off 4 & youngster Under 13’s Steven Tapolczay 0/12 off 5. We were bowled out for 64 with Dicko the only person to reach double figures with 15 & Steven made 7 with the bat. In round 2, we played Moorooduc who made 9/186 off their 40 overs. Derm & Jason (Roo) Rupe both snared 2 wickets off their 5 overs. Dicko 27 & Roo 38 was our top scorers in the chase finishing at 9/134 off our 40 overs. Round 3 we defeated Carrum Downs 155 to 91, with Alex Harnett 40 & Derm 21 leading the runs & Callum Woods 3/17 off 5 over’s, Richard (Dickie) Waterman 2/23 off 5 over’s & Luke Jennings 2/8 off 2.3 over’s working their magic with the ball. Juniors: Our under 15’s this season have join with Baxter as both clubs didn’t have enough players for a full side. The joint started to the season on the 13th of October with Mt Martha forfeiting on the morning of the game day. The Second round the boys had a little more success with Heatherhill fronting up to post 6/91 off their 20 over’s, Tom Quigley, Tom Triantaffalou both claimed one wicket each. The boys batted extremely well making 3/102 off their 20 over’s with Luke Jennings 30no retired, Jake Frawley 28 and Casey MillerTrickey18no. Week one of round 3 has been played against Ballam Park with the boys chasing Ballam Park 4/164 next week, Luke Jennings 2/24, Casey Miller-Trickey 1/4 & Tom Quigley 1/10 were the wicket takers . The under 13’s started to the season on the 13th of October with a win over Mornington. Mornington 5/64 batted first with all the wickets shared between the bowlers. Everyone received a bat with the boys finishing the 20 over’s 3/97, Matt Cottrell top scored with 32no retired, whilst Blake Eklund 16no retired & Steven Tapolczay 10no also reached double figures. In round 2 the boys fell short setting Baden Powell 9/71 off our 20 over’s to win, with Steven Tapolczay 24no and Matt Wright 10 the only double figure scorers. Baden Powell finished 5/96 of their 20 overs with Luke Edwards 1/5, Hudson Ciavola 1/12 & Jack Harrison claiming 3/7 off his two overs. Round 3 the boys play Frankston Ycw away with the boys batting on day one making 5/123, Matt Cottrell 32no & Blake Eklund31no both retired again for the second time this season. The under 11’s lost in a close one to Pines in their first game for the season. We batted first making 5/66 in our 20 over’s, Pines chased it down to make 4/78 off their 20 over’s. In round two, we were washed out in week one, week two will be a T20 against Langwarrin at Langwarrin. Milo Cricket: We held our Milo registration on the 19th of October with 28 young cricketers signing up to participate in the Milo in2cricket program to commence on Friday the 9th of November, from 5:30pm till 6:30pm at the Pearcedale Rec Res. Craig Dixon, Brad Trotter & Billy Kennedy have all volunteered to help run the program for the kids. The third $50 instalment is due for all seniors by the 1st of November. Players unable to meet the financial deadlines will not be eligible to play until financial.
