The Club is dedicated to encouraging young people and adults to ride and to care for horses and
ponies, whilst promoting the highest ideals of sportsmanship.
1)
The subscription is £15:00 per MDRC Field Junior membership/£20.00 BRC Jnr Member. Adult
membership £25:00 and must be paid prior to competing. No rider may compete for cups/points or take
part in any MDRC event unless they are a fully paid up member. To be eligible for cups at the subscriptions
must be paid prior to the show day.
2)
Day membership is now offered @ £10.00 per person per show and is limited to two attendances. No points
will be counted. Excludes BRC Events.
3)
Junior Field Membership of the Club is limited to those who have not attained their 19th birthday on 1 January
2017.
4)
Show jumping entries are not accepted for BSJA registered ponies/horses except if non-competitive.
5)
As from the 1st January 2016, in line with all members’ bodies of the BEF, MDRC will be applying a new
standard for hats worn by members. After 31 December 2015, MDRC will not be allowing Members to take
part in MCRC activities using riding hats which are only marked with the standard (BS)EN1384 1996, 1997 or
2012; even with the Kitemark which we have always specified is necessary. The hat standards accepted as of
1st January 2016 are PAS 015:1998 or 2011* with BSI Kitemark , VG1 with BSI Kitemark, Snell E2001* with
the official Snell label and number, ASTM-F1163 2004a with the SEI mark, AS/NZS 3838 1998, 2003 or 2006.
The PAS 015: 1998 or 2011 and the Snell E2001 meet higher impact criteria and therefore give more
protection. It is considered to be the responsibility of Senior Riders, and the parents/guardians of Junior riders
to ensure that their hats comply with these standards. Those without the correct hat will not be allowed to
take part in ANY Riding Club activities. Borrowing is strictly prohibited. Regular checks will be made.
6)
It is mandatory for all Members to wear a protective helmet at all times when mounted/competing in in-hand
showing classes with a chinstrap fastened and adjusted so as to prevent movement of the hat in the event of a
fall. All competitors are expected to dress correctly and smartly according to each discipline. Including Correct
standard hat, Jodhpurs, Riding Boots, Show/Hacking Jackets or Coats. It is compulsory that back protectors
are worn in all junior jumping classes. Back protectors/long sleeves are strongly advised in all adult jumping
classes and compulsory in jumping phases of Cross Country/2 day Event. Competitors are expected to be
smartly and correctly dressed for each discipline. Club sweatshirts may be worn instead of jackets, or long
sleeved shirts/tie to give arm protection. No T-shirts or hoodies please. Riders are recommended not to wear
jewellery.
7)
Dressage attire to conform with BD Rules, although discretion will be used.
8)
Whips may be used in Showing, Jumping and Cross Country classes only but must be no longer than 75cm.
Dressage whips are allowed in Dressage Competitions. NO whips allowed in gymkhana games.
9)
The use of spurs or any device capable of being used for a similar purpose is generally prohibited in junior
classes. However, spurs may be used in the Dressage classes and in the Dressage element of the One Day
Event. No spurs can be worn in gymkhana games
10)
The Club reserves the right to refuse any entry and to suspend any member, supporter or parent for
disobedience or for causing any unnecessary incident at any of the Club’s activities. Any complaints are to be
made in writing to the Secretary complete with £10 within 2 hour of the said offence/disturbance taking place,
and must to be brought before five Committee Members. Should the complaint be upheld the £10 will be
returned.
11)
The decision of the Judge/Instructor at all club events is final. In the event of no Judge being present – the
majority decision of the Stewards and Committee present is final.
12)
The Club or any of its officers, servants or assistants shall not be held responsible or accountable for any loss,
injury or damage that may happen from/to any animal, property or vehicle brought onto the Club field, or whilst
entering or leaving the same, or otherwise in connection with or arising out of or attributable to the event or to
the conditions or rules prescribed by the Committee thereto. Each exhibitor shall be solely responsible for any
consequential loss, injury or damage done to or occasioned by or arising from any animal, including the spread
of infection or contagious disease or article exhibited or introduced to the Club field by him or her and shall
indemnify the Club and its officials against all actions, proceedings, liabilities, claims, damages and expenses
in relation to or arising from his/her entries in any events.
13)
It is a requirement that there must be an adult present who is willing to be responsible for any member aged
16yrs and under at all Club events and an up to date contact number must be provided. It is recommended
that no one should attend events on their own.
14)
Stallions or unsuitable ponies will not in any way be allowed at the Club. Ponies/horses must be 4 yrs or older
to compete in any ridden event.
15)
In leading rein classes – the leader must not assist the speed of the pony. If a member needs two assistants
then the pony must remain in walk at all times.
16)
Any Group A rider who is capable of competing completely unassisted off the lead rein may do so, but they will
not be allowed to compete on the lead rein in any event for the season unless at the Committee’s discretion.
17)
Cradle Stakes and Nursery Stakes Jumping (or equivalent height 40cms – 55cms) are assisted classes.
Riders may be assisted but not led in these classes. These classes are designed to encourage children who
can nearly ‘go it alone’, but would benefit from being assisted when necessary but not led on the lead rein.
Competitors may be assisted as follows:-assistant may run alongside and direct rider. If the pony is led/ held
for any reason and for however long, 4 penalties per fence will be incurred.
18)
ASSISTED, BEGINNERS AND NOVICE JUMPING. It is expected that members will enter into the true spirit of
these classes. The Committee reserve the right, in their absolute discretion, to refuse a member entry should
they be in contravention of this rule in the Committee’s considered opinion.
19)
Anyone refusing to have their pony measured will not be allowed to take part in any Club activity.
20)
Height certificates are not accepted at the Club.
21)
All competitors must enter and leave the ring and collecting rings at a walk. No cantering/galloping around
the outside of the rings. Adults are asked not to ride in collecting rings during Junior events.
22)
All event/classes are subject to change at committees' discretion.
23)
All horses/ponies must be tied to a trailer/lorry using either string or quick release bungee.
24)
A horse/pony may only compete in 3 consecutive heights of jumping classes (excluding fun classes).
25)
Qualifiers for ESUK 2017 will run from 1 April 2017 – 28 July 2017.

Equine Sport UK
Grassroots Championships
What are the ESUK Championships?
The championships are the UK’s biggest and best unaffiliated championships. The event
takes place over 4 days and features over 130 classes across a whole range of disciplines
like show jumping, dressage, showing and fun classes.
The ESUK Championships are now in their 5th year and have quickly become an
established highlight in the equestrian calendar.
Anyone can enter – there are no restrictions on age or height, just compete at the level (or
levels) you’re happy with.
When: 3rd - 6th August 2017
Where: Arena UK, Grantham, NG32 2EF
Throughout the year MDRC will run a number of qualifying classes. It will be normal for
the three highest placed to qualify.
How do I enter?
There are many classes at ESUK Championships that are 'Open', ie anybody can enter
without having qualified, many of these classes are qualifiers for the Championship
classes held later during the show. You must qualify to enter in these Championship
Classes, qualifying shows are held across the country at hundreds of unaffiliated shows.
If your local show is not holding qualifiers, simply download a qualification card off our
website and take it along with you to the show. If you get placed in the top 3, ask the
judge or show secretary to sign it and send it in to us.
This year, due to popular demand we will accept any unaffiliated qualification cards such
as Equifest, Showing Register, Amateur Showing Society, UK Riders, Royal London,
Trailblazers, Sunshine Tour, Equestrian Life and many more. Just send your card in with a
£5 qualification retainer fee to: Equine Sports UK, c/o Arena UK, Allington Lane, Allington,
Grantham. NG32 2EF and your qualification will become validated.

The hat standards accepted as
of 1st January 2017 are PAS 015:1998 or 2011* with BSI Kitemark , VG1 with BSI Kitemark, Snell E2001* with
the official Snell label and number, ASTM-F1163 2004a with the SEI mark, AS/NZS 3838 1998, 2003 or 2006.
The PAS 015: 1998 or 2011 and the Snell E2001 meet higher impact criteria and therefore give more
protection. It is considered to be the responsibility of Senior Riders, and the parents/guardians of Junior
riders to ensure that their hats comply with these standards. Those without the correct hat will not be
allowed to take part in ANY Riding Club activities. Borrowing is strictly prohibited. Regular checks will be
made.
