5th Grade Team Behavior Plan “Hollywood Stars!” Above & Beyond Above the Line Below the Line Bottom Line All students begin the day, “Above the Line.” Students are given an X in their planner for “Below the Line” behavior. If a student has THREE X’s in a week, a 30-minute detention will be immediately assigned and the student will notify parent or guardian. If misbehavior is significant enough, the student will immediately be told they are in “Bottom Line” behavior. Examples of bottom line behaviors are; bullying/harassing, physical fighting, swearing, stealing, cheating, forged parent signature, etc.… With any behavior that is “Bottom Line,” a behavior slip will be filled out. A copy of the slip will go home to be signed and a copy will be filed in the office with Mr. Bastian. 5th Grade Hollywood SPECIAL Homework Guidelines Here’s how it works At the beginning of each quarter, all 5th graders have the opportunity to participate in the 5th Grade Special! If a student fails to turn in 3 assignments on time throughout the quarter, they will forfeit their participation in the 5th Grade Special. If a student does not have their homework turned in at the beginning of class, a homework slip will be filled out. The student will bring home the WHITE copy of the late slip to be signed by a parent or guardian. The teacher will keep a yellow carbon copy for their records. If the student does not bring the late slip home to be signed, the teacher will notify parents via email or phone. The teacher will record any late/missing work on his/her homework chart. Students will be allowed one freebie late slip; it will be recorded on the 5th Grade Special Chart, however it will not count against them attending the Quarterly Special Activity. If a student receives their second late slip, they will be out of half of the 5th Grade Special activity. If a student receives their third late slip, they will be out of the entire Special activity. There is a chance for redemption! If a student goes 10 consecutive school days without a late slip, they may cover up their late slip on the chart and it is as if it didn’t happen. Students who DO NOT qualify for the 5th Grade Special will have a normal work day in one of the fifth grade classrooms. Late Assignment Policy When Absent: Work that was assigned the day prior to an absence will be due when the student returns to school. Students will be given one day for each day absent to complete assignments. If work is handed out prior to absences, work is due when the student returns to school. Grading: In math I grade daily work and tests. Daily work is worth 20% of their grade and tests are worth 80% Science, Social Studies, & Language Arts(Reading, Grammar, Writing, & Spelling) will all be graded on total points.
