About RockSolid Race RockSolid Race is an Events Management company organising muddy mass participation outdoor Obstacle Course Races (OCR) in Devon and Northampton. Bursting onto the UK OCR scene in 2012, RockSolid has gone from strength to strength and is looking to expand their reach and portfolio of activities. At our MK/Northampton event in September 2014, we piloted our first race for mini rockers aged 10 and below and we are looking to expand this feature moving forward. In addition, in 2015 we will be hosting our first ever 2-day event at Escot Park in March and also launching a third race in our event calendar in May. About the role The role of RockSolid Event Intern will be fast paced, fun and varied with plenty of scope for you to stretch your skills and build experience for a future career in events management, marketing, sponsorship and business development. You will be tasked with supporting the RockSolid Managing Director and other staff members with a range of activities and will gain key insight into what it takes to produce and host large scale mass participation events. As part of a young and dynamic team, creativity and new ideas are welcomed and you will get first hand experience in event management, bookings and budgeting. Key tasks and responsibilities During your RockSolid Race Internship, your responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following activities: Providing administrative support to the Managing Director Researching business development opportunities for RockSolid during a period of expansion Supporting the wider team in the lead up to the event and on event days Handling incoming enquiries via email and telephone from our runners, volunteers and supporters Assist with the implementation of a sustainable sponsorship strategy Contribute to the publicity strategy for the event Key skills required Excellent communication skills Good level of IT literacy and able to pick up new systems with training (e.g databases / website CMS / registration systems) Highly organised Able to work to tight deadlines in the lead up to an event Good interpersonal skills Creative approach to problem solving Experience in developing and implementing business development and marketing strategy desirable (either academic or professional experience) Interest in sports industry advantageous happy to work out of doors on event day Benefits of participation Gain insight into a fast-paced commercial Sporting Event company Work alongside industry professionals in Health and Safety, Course Construction, Event Management and Volunteer Management Excellent experience for your CV and competitive edge in the jobs market References will be provided to support future job applications Lunch provided Reasonable local travel expenses will be covered Duration of Internship We are looking for a skilled individual to join our team between February to July for between 8-16 hours per week.
