Lunchtime Supervisor/Team Leader
Reports to:
Business Manager
Salary:
£5,219.80 p/a
Hours of work:
15 Hours per week, term time only
38 weeks pa plus 5.6 weeks annual leave, including bank
holidays, plus attendance for training on 5 Inset Days or at
other times for specific purposes.
Job Purpose
1.
To work as a member of a staff team including lunchtime assistants,
teachers, speech and language therapists, educational assistants and other
professionals.
2.
To participate in school life and support the ethos of the school.
3.
To take part in appraisal, supervision and development according to school
and Together Trust policy.
4.
To line manager the team of lunchtime assistants, according to school and
Together Trust policy.
5.
Take responsibility for the promotion of safeguarding and the welfare of
children and young persons for who s/he is responsible for.
6.
To promote a positive image of autism, Inscape House and the Trust.
7.
To be aware of and follow the policies and procedures of Inscape House and
the Together Trust.
8.
To maintain confidentiality for all areas of the post, Inscape House and the
Trust.
9.
To cooperate with all Together Trust staff in maintaining harmonious
interpersonal relations.
10.
To carry out any duties as are within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job,
the title of the post and its grading as requested by your line manager or
more senior managers of the Trust.
11.
To perform any other such duties as may reasonably be required by the Trust.

Lunchtime Team Leader – Inscape House School
Summary of Responsibilities and Personal Duties
Specific Responsibilities
1.
To lead a team of lunchtime assistants (approximately 14 currently), who
themselves supervise children at lunchtime in the dining room and the
playground and provide personal care when required.
2.
To deploy the team of lunchtime assistants across the school to complement
the lunchtime working of a range of other staff.
Support the day to day work of the lunch time assistants as indicated in the
following:

To prepare the dining area at lunchtime, including putting out furniture and
other equipment, and ensuring the cleanliness of this.
4.
To assist in preparing children for lunch and in returning them to the
classroom (or playground) at the end of the period.
5.
To put furniture and equipment away after lunch and to ensure that the
dining area is clean.
6.
To prepare, where time permits, equipment and materials for the children to
play within the playground.
7.
To engage the children in appropriate forms of play.
8.
To assist other staff in managing children’s behaviour, in a manner
appropriate to the level of training received in this regard.
9.
To assist in returning the children to their classroom at the end of the play
session.
10.
To put away play equipment at the end of the play session.
11.
Promote the use of lunchtime guidelines, communication and sensory
strategies and promotion of pupil independence by liaising with the Therapy
Team.
12.
Ensure all lunchtime assistants follow the guidance above.

Additional information
The work at the Trust for those working directly with the service users can on
occasion be physically demanding and employees must be able to undertake in full
the requirements of the job and requisite training.
For the safety of staff and the service users, training will be provided to assist
employees to carry out their role, specifically the Movement & Management of
Loads & People, Emergency First Aid and PROACT SCIPr UK training (this provides
staff with the skills to carry out the sometimes necessary safe holds in a non
threatening way). Employees will be required to fully participate in all training.
