The Golf Team Gets Some Golf in Between Storms

The Golf Team Gets Some Golf in Between Storms
By Coach Marshall
The IWHS golf team packed up the mini bus and scooted over to Alcester on Tuesday, April 16th
to compete in the Alcester-Hudson Dual. The temperature hovered somewhere around the 40° mark
and was overcast for the day. Not ideal weather, but we will take it if we can get some golf in; the
opportunities have been few and far between. The golf team did extremely well in the dual. IWHS took
top honors in both the girls division and boys division.
On the girls’ side, varsity division, Sydney Nielsen took top honors shooting a 46 on the
afternoon. She was followed by Makayla Mohr who shot a 49 for second place. Maggie Kribell also shot
a 49 for third place. 2nd and 3rd place were determined by the tie breaking procedure. Ashleigh
Schroeder finished her afternoon off with a 61 and a 5th place finish. IWHS also had a great day at the JV
level Kassie Boese took top honors shooting a score of 53 and Miranda Fuhrer brought home a 4th place
finish shooting a 77.
On the boys’ side at the varsity level, IWHS took the top two positions. Placing 1st was Justin
Ostrem who shot a 44. He was followed by Landon Larsen, who also shot a 44. Again, the tie breaking
procedure had to be used to figure out the placing. IWHS also was very successful at the JV level. Kaden
Mork took top honors carding a 52. Kaden was followed by his teammate Dawson Weidrich who
brought home 2nd place with a score of 55.
Hopefully, the weather will turn the corner and we can get onto some warmer days. Next up for
the golf team could be an impromptu golf meet back at Fox Run in Yankton on Friday, April 26th, but that
hasn’t been confirmed yet. IWHS will be hosting the IW Invite at the Glenridge Golf Course on Tuesday,
April 30th at 10 a.m. On May 2nd the golf team will travel back to Fox Run for the TVC Invite. Start time is
9 a.m. For all those golfers out there who get a chance to play, “find yourself a par 5 hole and score an
albatross on it”.
