This official watches the put and records the measurements. 1. Each competitor shall be credited with the best of all his/her puts. 2. The put shall be made from a circle. At the middle of the circumference, in the front half of the circle, a stop board shall be placed firmly fastened to the ground. A competitor must commence the throw from a stationary position inside the circle. 3. The shot shall be put from the shoulder with one hand only. At the time the competitor takes a stance in the ring to commence at put, the shot shall touch OR BE IN CLOSE PROXIMITY TO THE CHIN and the hand shall not be dropped below this position during the action of putting. The shot MUST NOT BE BROUGHT BEHIND THE LINE OF THE SHOULDERS. 4. A competitor is allowed to touch the inside of the iron band and of the stop board. 5. It shall be a foul throw and not allowed to count if the competitor, after he has stepped into the circle and begun to make a throw, touches with any part of his body the ground outside the circle, the top of the iron band, stop-board or circle or improperly releases the shot in making any attempt. 6. Provided that in the course of a trial the foregoing rules have not been infringed, a competitor may INTERRUPT A TRIAL ONCE STARTED MAY LAY HIS IMPLEMENT DOWN and may leave the circle before returning to a stationary position and beginning a fresh trial. 7. The competitor must not leave the circle until the implement has touched the ground. When leaving the circle, the first contact with the ground outside the circle must be completely behind the white line, which is drawn outside the circle running theoretically through the centre of the circle. 8. For a valid trial, the shot must fall so that the nearest mark made by the fall of the shot is within the inner edges of line 0.05 metres wide, marking a sector of 34.92° set out on the ground so that the radii lines cross at the centre of the circle. 9. The measurement of each put shall be made immediately after the put from the nearest mark made by the fall of the shot, to the inside of the circumference of the circle, along a line from the mark made by the shot to the centre of the circle. 10.In the event of a tie, the second best performance of the competitors tying shall decide the tie. Provided that in the course of a trial the foregoing rules have not been infringed, a competitor may INTERRUPT A TRIAL ONCE STARTED, BY PLACING HIS/HER IMPLEMENT DOWN, leave the circle then return to a stationary position and begin a fresh trial. 7. The competitor must not leave the circle until the implement has touched the ground. When leaving the circle, the first contact with the outside ground must be behind the white line. This line is drawn through the centre of the circle. 8. For a valid trial, the Discus must fall so that the nearest mark made by the fall of the Discus is within the inner edge of the lines (0.05 metres in width, marking a 34.92° sector set out on the ground, so that the radii lines cross at the centre of the circle.) 9. The measurement of each throw shall be made from the nearest mark by the fall of the Discus to the outside of the circumference of the circle. 10.In the event of a tie, the second best performance of the competitors shall decide the placegetters. Then, if necessary, the third best throw etc. HIGH JUMP OFFICIALS REQUIRED: 1. To call names, record measurement and watch technique. 2. To adjust bar and measure after each adjustment. (Bar is measured in the centre from the ground up to the top edge of the bar. Check side height is equal.) Rules Measure here first then the ends. 1. A legal jump is when a competitor leaves the ground off ONE foot. 2. A competitor is allowed three attempts at each height. A baulk is not counted as an attempt, however, if a competitor baulks but a part of his/her body goes under the bar or touches the bar, it is considered an attempted jump. 3. A competitor may elect to pass a height, but if he fails at the chosen height he is out, and is credited with the height he actually jumped, NOT the height at which he passed. 4. Competitors are placed on a count back if necessary. Bar supports to be pointing towards each other. Upright should be 20cm from the mats. Mat area to 5 metres long The competitor with the lowest number of jumps at by 3 metres wide. the height at which the tie occurs shall be awarded the higher place. If the tie still remains, the competitor with the lowest total of failures throughout the competition up to and including the height last cleared shall be awarded the higher place. If the tie still remains If it concerns the first place, the competitors tying shall have one (1) more jump at the lowest height at which any of those involved in the tie failed, and if no decision is reached, the bar shall be lowered or raised to the heights which shall be announced by the Chief Judge of the event; they shall then attempt one (1) jump at each height until the tie is decided. If it concerns any other place, the competitors shall be awarded the same place in the competition. 5. A competitor can use any distance or angel of run-up he desires. LONG JUMP OFFICIALS REQUIRED: Two and two helpers Officials 1. To call names, record distances, watch for fouls 2. To watch landing and measure jump. Helpers (children may be used) 1. To pull tape over the board. 2. To rake. Rules: 1. Every competitor is allowed a practice run through and can use any length of run-up she/he desires. 2. A foul occurs when any part of the foot is over the front edge of the take-off board. 3. A competitor must walk out of the pit in the direction in which she/he was jumping. If she/he walks out of the pit between where she/he landed and the take off board, his jump is disqualified. 4. Every competitor is allowed three jumps each. 5. To correctly measure a jump: A peg is placed through end of tape which is zero mark and placed at the back of the foot imprint nearest the board, (or any mark closer to the board made by any other part of the body). The tape is then taken back across the board, which it crosses at right angles, and the measurement is read where the tape touches the front edge of the board. 6. All jumps measured are recorded and competitors are placed according to the bestrecorded jump. 7. If a tie results, the second best performance of the competitors tying shall decide the tie. Then, if necessary, the third best, and so on. Tape at right angles This official Zero of tape here. watches for fouls and records measurements. Measure here. This official places zero of the tape in mark made in the sand closest to the board. TRIPLE JUMP OFFICIALS REQUIRED: Two and two helpers Officials 1. A jumper fails in their attempt if: He/she touches the ground beyond the take-off line with any part of their body, whether running up without jumping or in the act of jumping. He/she takes off from outside either end of the board. He/she, in landing, touches the ground outside the pit nearer to the take-off then the nearest break in the landing area made by the jump. He/she, after a completed jump, walks back through the landing area. He/she employs any form of somersaulting while approaching the board or in the jump. 4. Every competitor is allowed three jumps each. 5. To correctly measure a jump: A peg is placed through end of tape which is zero mark and placed at the back of the foot imprint nearest the board, (or any mark closer to the board made by any other part of the body). A throw will be valid only if the tip of the metal head strikes the ground before any other part of the javelin. 4. At no time during the throw, until the javelin has been released, may the competitor turn completely around, so that his/her back is towards the throwing arc. 5. The competitor must not leave the runway until the implement has touched the ground. 6. It is a foul if the competitor crosses the lines marking the throwing arc at the end of the runway. 7. When leaving the runway, the competitor must make contact with the ground completely behind the throwing arc and the two lines marking its extremities. 8. If a javelin breaks at any time during the course of a throw, the competitor is entitled to another attempt provided the throw was made in accordance with the rules. 9. To correctly measure a jump: Select the nearest mark made by the head of the javelin and hold the zero end of the tape at this point with the spike. The javelin does not need to stick in the ground. Draw the tape tightly across the end of the runway so that the tape passes over the centre of the circle of which the throwing arc is part. The distance is measured at the point where the tape crosses the inner edge of the arc.
