St. Bride’s Nursery Class March 2016 Newsletter Welcome to the March Newsletter for St. Bride’s Primary School Nursery Class. Nursery News March Learning Focuses This month will see the children focusing on a variety of learning. World Book Day The children started the month by learning all about stories and books. They came to nursery all dressed up as book characters as part of the whole school World Book Day celebrations on Thursday 3rd March. Thank you for all your thought and effort that went into the children’s costumes. They looked super! I’m sure I spotted a Wally or two around the school! Spring Time & Easter The children will learn all about the season of Spring. The will go outdoors and look for signs of Spring around the school as well as learning about animals and their babies. They will learn about Spring flowers and maybe even plant a bulb or too. They will be involved in lots of ‘making and doing’ activities with eggs and bunnies for Easter. ‘Loose Parts’ This topic was inspired by a book for use in nursery settings. Children learn through the use of everyday objects. Can you help with this? Please have a look at the book displayed in the cloakroom area and if you can help us with any ‘loose parts’ like cardboard boxes, string, buttons, ribbons corks, or anything else you see in the book then please hand them into nursery. We are very much looking forward to seeing the children being inspired by a variety of different resources. All our Plans are displayed on the noticeboard within the cloakroom. Please take moment to have look. Personal Learning Plans Each child has a Persoanl Learning Plan. This plan will record and track your child’s learning across all areas of their learning. The plans are located within the playroom and you are invited to have look through it with your child on a regular basis. Nursery Rules & Shining Stars We now have a set of nursery rules . These rules promote positive behaviour, participation and cooperation with the children while they are in nursery. The rules have been discussed with the children and are refered to everyday as the children play and learn. When the children follow the rules they are rewarded with stars which they put next to their name on the display boards around the playroom. When a child receives 10 shinning stars they will be awarded a special ‘Certificate of Achievement’ which they can take home. This special achievement is also be recorded on the Achievement Wall Display and in their Personal Learning Plan. Our Nursery Rules are: 1. We always do as we are asked first time. 2. We are kind and caring to each other, keeping hands, feet and objects to ourselves. 3. We look after the toys in nursery, inside and out. We tidy them away when we are finished. 4. We listen carefully and play quietly. 5. We always walk around inside the Nursery.
