From holding an Olympics-themed quiz to your very own Office
Olympics, we’ve got a fun idea waiting to power you on.
This is how it works:
Step 1:
Recruit your teams
Step 2:
Choose your events
Get your Office Olympics ready before your
event. You will need at least three teams
for those bronze, silver and gold places.
Compile a list of events to hold during your
tournament. We’ve created some handy,
ready-to-go ideas for you on the next page!
Take a look through this pack and choose
your favourites or feel free to use your own.
Ask the teams for a donation of your
choosing (recommended £20-£30 per
team) to sign up.
Step 3:
Get the word out
Step 4:
Let the games begin!
Promote your events and ask each team
to choose their participants for each event.
We’ve provided a poster you can use to
help you advertise.
Make sure your Olympics Organiser prints off
our scoreboard to keep track of the results.
The team with the most gold medals wins!
On your marks, get set, go!

Here are our ideas to get you going
but feel free to use your own!

Opening ceremony on 5th August – Hold a party to get everyone in the
Olympics spirit. Get your teams to dress up in their nation’s traditional dress
and have food and music from that country. Team kit day – A great excuse for a dress
down day. Get your colleagues dressed down
in the kits from different events or countries! Question of Sport – Download our Battle
of the Brains quiz pack from our Resources
page here: www.alzheimersresearchuk.org/
corporate-resources/competitions-andchallenges and add in our special Olympicsthemed round included in this pack. Great
for a lunch time activity!
Charity Pentathlon – Hold your very own
office pentathlon. Choose 5 activities from
the list below or add in your own! • B
in archery: Participants take rubber
bands and, using two fingers, try to flick
them into waste bins. Participants aim
to get their elastic bands into the bins
from the furthest distance away.
• C
hair rowing: Participants race each
other on wheeled chairs, with bonus
points for making a rowing motion with
their hands!
Get sporty! – Feeling inspired by the
amazing athletes on telly? Introduce
some sporty challenges around the office.
Download our Plank Challenge scoreboard
from our Resources page or get some
walking meetings going.
• F
inger skating: This is a touch-typing
contest, where participants from each
team have sixty seconds to prove their
typing prowess. Use www.typingtest.com
to time and judge the results, and show
the event on a projector. Each team will
be ranked according to their typing score
for speed and accuracy
Made-up marathon – Get your teams
to hook up their pedometers or activity
trackers to record how many steps they take
each day. The winning team is the first to
cover 26.2 miles! Get teams to record their
distances each day on our tracker included
in this pack.
• P
aper aeroplane javelin: Hold a paper
planes competition and the plane that
gets the furthest wins. Download our
Paper Plane Challenge pack from our
Resources page.
Feeling lucky? – Try your chances with our
Olympics sweepstake – you can find one at
the back of this pack. Which country will win
the most number of medals?
• R
ock paper scissors judo: A knockout rock paper scissors competition
between teams. Who will keep fighting
until the end?
• S
chool sports day: Remember the three
legged race, egg and spoon, sack race
and other favourites!

Hot tips!
Ask each team to design a team flag to
encourage enthusiasm. If teams really get
into the spirit, they could even come up with
their own anthems!
Remember that it will take some time to plan each
event, so it’s best to make the most of what you
have in the office!
Hold a closing ceremony to celebrate your fantastic
tournament. Print our homemade gold, silver and
bronze medals to give out to winners! With this
year’s Olympics taking place in sunny Rio, why not
hold a Brazilian carnival party?
