Mapping Tool: National Disability Insurance
Agency list of supports and Department of
Health & Human Services activities
September 2015
The purpose of this document is to map the National Disability Insurance Agency list of supports with the
Department of Health & Human Services (department) activities that are in scope of registration under the Disability
Act 2006.
Registration is only required when:
1. the National Disability Insurance Agency list of supports has an equivalent Department of Health & Human
Services activity; and
2. the National Disability Insurance Agency service provider is a disability service provider within the definition of
the Disability Act, i.e. providing services only for people with a disability and not classed as a mainstream
service.
Detail regarding National Disability Insurance Agency list of supports is available from the National Disability
Insurance Agency website at: http://www.ndis.gov.au/.
At its discretion, the department may change the activities that require registration under the Disability Act and the
mapping tool will be updated as required. The department’s Policies, procedures and forms for the registration of
disability service providers registered/registering with National Disability Insurance Agency lists the activities
requiring registration under the Disability Act and is available from the department’s website at:
http://www.dhs.vic.gov.au/about-the-department/documents-and-resources/policies,-guidelines-andlegislation/human-services-standards. The department’s Policy and Funding Plan provides detail regarding the
activities and is available from the department’s website at: http://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au.
The activities are mapped in the table on the following pages.
A further table summarises the National Disability Insurance Agency list of supports that require registration where
the service is delivered by a disability service provider as defined by the Disability Act.
