Here’s a list of best practices executors should use to keep beneficiaries happy as the estate is
settled.
Communicate regularly (and equally) with all beneficiaries to avoid complaints,
misperceptions and accusations of bias.
Keep receipts, bank deposits and other documentation help prove an executor acted
expediently and professionally.
Hire well-qualified help — an accountant to file a tax return; a money manager to
manage a trust; a lawyer for probate — to avoid errors and mistakes.
Secure three appraisals before selling or disbursing real estate, personal property,
collectibles and other assets of unknown value.
