Men Sevens Auxiliary Coach Areas of responsibility: • Men Sevens HP coaching • Talent ID • Development support OBJECTIVES OF THE POSITION: • • • • • • • • • Responsible for achieving the objectives of the Strategic Plan for Men Sevens (becoming 2nd Sevens National team in South America by 2016 and achieve regular participation in the HSBC SWS from 2015 onwards) Responsible for delivering high performance leadership and an environment for the team that is replicated in the team culture To coach the team on and off the field to a standard of excellence demonstrating a significant improvement over tournaments and enhance the reputation of Brazil rugby. Responsible for designing and proposing, to the CEO and HP Manager, the calendar of activities (camps, games, etc) for the Men Sevens HP Team To work closely with other HP coaches and the management team to learn and share best practice To work with unions to identify and develop the talent to keep increasing performance and bridging the talent gap in the Men Sevens HP Team To contribute to the Strategic Planning process To develop an Auxiliary Coach To select (in conjunction with the CBRu) the Brazilian Men Sevens HP Team to attend tournaments KEY OBJECTIVES OF THE POSITION: Accountabilities Objectives and expected performance: • To achieve the best possible match results with the team, taking into consideration Overall all requirements outlined standard Squad selection, Team selection & preparation Responsible for achieving the objectives of the Strategic Plan for the Men Sevens Team Monitor and assess the performance of all Men Sevens players in contention for selection, including consultation with union coaches, CBRu specialist resource coaches and the club coaches, and provide such player assessment information to CBRu as requested from time to time. Implement Individual Performance Plans and meetings for each Men Sevens HP squad member Implement systems to organize and archive all relevant player and squad information (ie Google docs) Provide leadership of the Men Sevens HP team and team management through effective interpersonal communication and address difficult problems and decisions appropriately. Work closely with the S&C coach to ensure that there is a planned and coordinated approach to the fitness preparation of the players and to ensure that those players fitness levels meet team requirements Ensure that, following consultation and advice with the CBRu Senior Medical Doctor, each player´s welfare, in terms of health and safety is given priority at all times Fully utilize all available technologies to analyze, understand and develop individual and team performance. Develop appropriate game plans, and review and measure individual and team performance against those plans Remain up-‐to-‐date with modern game development, including new laws Provide technical and tactical coaching as appropriate Develop well-‐structured training sessions that provide team progressions in the areas of: Set piece / Attack / Defense / General play Ensure that the team maintains an appropriate standard of discipline both on and off the field – base standards on clearly articulated protocols Ensure that all players have an understanding and respect for the laws of the game Help develop, together with the Auxiliary Coach, the base line stats to be able to set gameplay stat objectives to players (% completed passes, pass distance, knock-‐ ons, etc). • • • • • • • • • • • • • • • HP Planning • • • • • Assist in the Strategic Planning process by contributing with the POVs and priorities of the Men Sevens HP Team Based on the CBRu HP plan and objectives for the Men Sevens squad set out an annual team vision, objectives and team focus areas of performance Lead and develop the teams annual plans, weekly schedules and daily sessions in consultation with the rest of the management team based on key high performance principles. Actively participate in leading, monitoring and co-‐ordinating the management team and key high performance providers to ensure all players are implementing their individual performance plans both during and outside the team assembly Assist in the support, leadership, development and education of all management Rugby development • • Talent ID • • • • • • CBRu collaboration • • • • • • • • • • • CRFU collaboration • • • • team as part of comprehensive reviews. Implement personal development plans. Work with unions and clubs to develop the Men Sevens players through assisting with trainings, coaching modules, camps and competitions structures as required. Collaborate with the Development and Tournament Managers as appropriate Responsible for the squad selection process: regular trials and camps – players should be selected based on their potential to perform in the next two Olympic cycles (2016 and 2020) o Follow all CBRu selection and turn-‐down protocols Work with the unions to identify Men Sevens players who have potential to perform at their peak in the Olympic Games of 2016 and 2020 Establish, conduct and assess Men Sevens players at Talent ID camps, tournament and games that will be held throughout the country as part of your identification process. Attend other sports tournaments to identify potential players Attend Olympic trials to identify potential players Assist the CBRu in the Heritage Program: help select / scout potential foreign players Work closely with the HP Manager to align the HP plans and AOP and to make sure the HP infrastructure is being maximized by the HP teams and coaches Adhere to CBRu policies at all times Build relationships with the union and club coaches Contribute and adhere to any media policy developed by the CBRu Maintain sound, professional working relationships with match officials Provide constructive feedback and views for referee match performance assessments as required and through the appropriate channels Facilitate and participate in promotional activities with sponsors as and when required Wear CBRu branded clothing at all team events and activities Complete and submit an in depth coach´s campaign report to the CBRu within 3 weeks of the end of your team campaign, covering all key aspects of the season, including: progress against team plan / appraisal of selection, team management and player performance / areas of opportunity and development plans for future Meet CBRu reporting requirements Meet all health and safety requirements and undertake this contract in a safe manner, advising of any risks or concerns immediately. Maintain sound working relationships with all CRFU staff. Provide reports on activity through the HP Coach Director. Maintain a positive working relationship with the IHPU Manager. Meet all health and safety requirements, ensuring that all health and safety obligations under the Health and Safety in Employment Act are understood and are complied with including assessing any hazards and ensuring the safety of all in carrying out this contract. Any new hazard will be notified to the HP Manager • and the Contractor will ensure that their obligations are understood under the Health and Safety Employment Act 1992and confirm their intention to comply with such Act at all times. All accidents and incidents will be reported to the HP Manager immediately.
