guidance of the football program strength and conditioning coach, Mike Axe. Camp will

3. When is the best time to take our summer family vacation?
Answer – Incoming freshmen families are asked to plan family summer vacations prior
to the start of summer camp on June 26th or during the off week of July 22nd – July 30th
as practices resume on July 31st. There will not be any mandatory freshmen practices
during these time periods.
4. When and at what time will you hold summer practices?
Answer – Summer practices will officially begin on Monday June 26th and run through
July 21st. Summer practices will be held on school grounds, Monday through Friday
between 1:00 pm and 4:30 pm, depending on the week. Check the attached calendar
for exact practice times.
5. What is Passing League?
Answer – Passing league is competition against another school(s). It involves pitting our
skill players (quarterbacks, wide receivers, and running backs) against the skill players
from another school(s). Linemen, with the exception of centers, are not used. It often
occurs from 5:00 – 7:00 pm on selected days and may be on our field or our opponents’.
In the past we have also participated in some passing league tournaments. These
tournaments, held on Friday or Saturday, usually last from 8:00am until mid-afternoon.
More details as to our passing league schedule will be announced at a later time.
6. My son is taking summer school; will this conflict with the summer practice schedule?
Answer – No, it will not conflict. Summer school will end by 12:30 pm and practice will
not start earlier than 1:00 pm.
7. My son has never played any type of full contact football, will he be okay?
Answer – Absolutely. Our number one priority is the safety of your child. We typically
have a large percentage of freshmen players who have never participated in full contact
football. Whether your son has only played flag football or has never played organized
football before it is our job to get him ready for the season.
8. My son is a multi-sport athlete, is that going to be a problem?
Answer – No. The SMCHS football program encourages our young athletes to
participate in the sports that they enjoy. All that we ask is that they commit themselves
to football while it’s football season and commit themselves to weightlifting during the
offseason. Conflicts will come up, when they do arise we encourage the athlete to
inform both coaches early on so that they may work it out.
9. How many players do you typically have on the freshmen team?
Answer – The typical size of an SMCHS freshmen football team is in the mid-40s to
upper 50s.
10. Do you “cut” players from your freshmen football team?
Answer – Absolutely not. As long as the player is willing to make the commitment to
abide by the rules of the SMCHS football program, then all are welcomed.
11. Do you have more than one freshmen football team?
Answer – Yes. All the players will practice together and travel together as one team.
However, during the season we will have “Blue” games on Thursdays and “Gold” games
on Saturdays.
12. Where or when can I learn more about my son participating in Eagle football for the
2016 season?
Answer – On Monday June 19th we will be holding an Incoming Freshmen Football
Information Night. It will be held from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm in the Science Lecture Hall on
the SMCHS campus. The coaches will be going over fee schedules, practice schedules,
and an overall introduction to the SMCHS football program. Parent attendance is
greatly appreciated. You may also contact Head Coach Rich Fisher, Freshmen Head
Coach Scott McIntosh or Administrative Assistant Mandie Rowell with any additional
questions. Their contact information is listed above.
13. What are the participation fees for the 2016 season and when are the due dates?
Answer – The total fees for participation in Eagle football as an incoming freshman is
$2,500. However, if fees are paid in full by June 21st 2016 then the total due is reduced
to $2,400. In order for your son to participate in the July camp we ask that an initial
installment of $1,500 has been paid on or by June 26th. The entire fee is due by July 31st.
