Thank you for expressing an interest in the position of Deputy Head Teacher at Great Berry
Primary School. The position has become available due to the retirement at the end of the academic year of
our current Deputy.
Great Berry School is located in Langdon Hills, not far from Basildon and close to the A127. The school is a
very popular and oversubscribed academy with 422 pupils across 14 classes.
In January 2012 the school was graded as ‘Outstanding’ by OFSTED in all areas and we are proud of our
reputation as a high achieving school with excellent standards of behaviour and consistently high quality
teaching across all year groups.
We have some excellent facilities including a sports hall, all weather playing surface, dedicated Science and
Technology room, large attractive grounds and a computing suite.
Our curriculum includes regular opportunities for visits, trips and special event days and weeks. The staff
are friendly and supportive and work incredibly hard to ensure all children are given the best opportunities
possible. The Senior Management team consists of myself, the deputy, our three phase leaders, the
SENDCo and our office manager. We meet regularly and work closely together on key areas of school
development, monitoring and data analysis.
We are looking for an outstanding practitioner to join our team who can bring their own qualities and
expertise to enhance the education of our children. The new deputy will be non-classed based, but with a
daily teaching commitment of 1 hour in Key Stage 2 and the role of Designated Safeguarding Lead for the
school. From September Great Berry will be one of 3 schools in the newly formed CRESCO multi-academy
trust and I will be taking on the role of CEO of the trust. This means that I will be working for the trust
for a day a week and our new Deputy will therefore have regular opportunity to lead and run the school in
my absence.
