Thank you for your interest in applying for one or more of the 7 teaching positions currently available with the
Napier Kindergarten Association.
Applicants may apply for one or more positions using the one Application Form. This means if you are
applying for a number of positions, you only need to complete one set of application and referees reports to
support all of the positions you are applying for.
Applications
Each applicant is required to submit the following:
1. Cover Letter – 1 page with brief information about yourself, your interest in and suitability for the
position(s).
2. Completed Application Form.
3. Referees Reports (preferably up to 3 reports to be submitted).
4. EEO Database form.
5. CV (3 page maximum, plus copies of qualifications and First Aid Certificate).
In addition to the above each application pack will include:




Person and Position Description for each kindergarten.
Professional Standards and Job Description for Kindergarten Teachers and Head Teachers.
Employment Relations Document.
Referee Consent to use a previous referee report
Please DO NOT include any original documents in your application.
Applications may be typed or handwritten. If handwritten, please ensure the handwriting is clear and legible.
Unless specifically requested, your application will not be returned to you.
We would appreciate careful consideration of the application requirements. Failure to follow these
instructions could result in your application being discounted as invalid.
Methods for submitting an application
Applications and referee reports may be submitted by email, fax, post or hand delivered.

Close Off
Close off date for all applications and referee reports is 5 pm on Thursday 11 May 2017. That means the
Association must have received the applications and referee reports by this time. Applications and referee
reports received after the cut off will not be considered.
Referee Reports
If you have applied for permanent positions with our Association at any time after the 11 May 2016 you have
the option of either submitting new referee reports or requesting that we use the referee reports submitted
with a previous application. If you are re using previous referee reports you must obtain the consent of
referees that it is acceptable to reuse the report (a form is enclosed in the application pack for this purpose).
Interviews
Interviews will not be required for a position if there is an applicant clearly ahead of all other applicants and
that person is an existing employee of the Association.
Interviews may be required for a position where the appointment committee members cannot distinguish an
applicant is clearly ahead of other shortlisted applicants or the applicant is not an existing employee of the
Association.
Interviews are required for Head Teacher positions.
Interviews will preferably be conducted in person, however where appropriate interviews can be conducted
via skype.
You will be notified if you are invited to attend an interview. We anticipate that interviews will be held during
the period 29 May to 9 June 2017, however interviews may need to be conducted beyond this timeframe.
Please note that due to the large number of positions being advertised, the recruitment process is expected
to be lengthy.

Visiting the Kindergartens
Applicants interested in visiting kindergartens before submitting an application are invited to do so. Please
contact the Head Teacher of the relevant kindergarten first to arrange a suitable time to do so. Please be
respectful of the kindergarten program while you are visiting and that there may be relieving teachers
currently employed in the positions advertised.
Appointment of the Best Applicant
It is our policy that the best applicant is appointed for positions irrespective of whether incumbents may be
applying.
Commencement Date for Appointees:
The commencement date for all positions advertised is 24 July 2017 excepting the Wairoa Head Teacher
position, which commences24 October 2017. A later start date may be negotiated if the appointee is required
to serve out a notice period with their current employer.
Acknowledgement of Receipt of Application
An acknowledgement of receipt for all applications will be issued after the close off date.
Outcome of Application
All applicants will be advised by the 7 July 2017 of the outcome of their application.
Right of Review or Appeal
Please note there is no right of review or appeal to appointments made.
