Washington, D.C. (November 18, 2015) – The Poker Players Alliance (PPA), the leading poker grassroots advocacy group
with 1.2 million members natonwide and more than 25,000 PPA advocates in Pennsylvania, today launched an
advocacy webpage to encourage Pennsylvania players to contact their state lawmakers in support of bringing regulated
Internet poker to the Keystone State.
The Pennsylvania House Gaming Oversight Commitee today passed H.B. 649, a bill to license and regulate Internet
poker and other forms of online gaming in the state, with overwhelming bipartsan support. However, this is just the
frst step in the legislatve process. H.B. 649 must also pass through the full state House and state Senate and then would
be sent to Governor Tom Wolf to be signed into law. Alternatvely, H.B. 649 could become a measure in Pennsylvania’s
2016 budget plan and would be voted on by the entre legislature.
“Regardless of H.B. 649’s pathway to becoming law in Pennsylvania, we want to see Internet poker legislaton enacted
this year. Therefore, we are calling on all Pennsylvania poker players to tell the state’s policymakers why passing this bill
is so important to Pennsylvanians and urging all poker reporters and actvists to help spread the word through media
outlets, blogs and social media forums,” said John Pappas, executve director of the PPA. “It is absolutely crucial that
Pennsylvania state representatves, senators and Governor Tom Wolf are hearing from their consttuents about the
consumer benefts of licensing and regulatng Internet poker in the state.”
The PPA’s H.B. 649 advocacy webpage provides tools that allow Pennsylvania residents to easily contact target state
legislators via emails, calls and through social media to urge them to support H.B. 649. The PPA will be contnuing to
update the advocacy page as this issue moves along in the legislatve process.
