Assessment project goals
Taking business objectives into account the assessment project developed by Sinfo One’s
experts set the following goals:

approach to processes and criticalities by all departments;

Develop an IT strategy in line with business growth;

Support company change through qualitative and quantitative analyses;

Why the assessment project
The assessment plan that Sinfo One proposed to CLAI was considered as a good
opportunity to verify and review IT development strategies and to reengineer business
processes.
Sinfo One’s methodology links business strategies to processes through specific
proprietary tools. This allows the company to concentrate analyses and diagnostic efforts
only where necessary, e.g. on business processes that are particularly relevant to the
achievement of strategies.
Each analyzed process is evaluated in terms of both organization and human and
technological capital, aiming to identify the gaps that hinder process efficiency and
effectiveness and therefore the achievement of business strategies.
On the basis of this “gap analysis” evolutionary scenarios are drawn up and presented to
the client.
This methodology successfully combines two design needs, the speed and cost
effectiveness of the analysis and its completeness, which would otherwise be
incompatible.
Analysis and results
Sinfo One proposed a check up of company processes and IT systems for the future
development of a structured strategy in Clai’s IT sector.
The project commenced in October 2009 and the final results, as well as possible future
scenarios, were presented in March 2010.
The study was developed in four phases. The first phase produced a diagnosis of the
company’s starting point and a process application map, which were then the subject of
qualitative and quantitative analyses in the second phase of the project.
The third phase measured the gaps found against the benchmarks and presented the
results. In the fourth and final phase of the assessment process short- and long-term
interventions and scenarios were proposed.
