least 1 typical passenger route from the UK, naming both
the UK (and/or European) airport the route begins and
ends with. You must include an example from the UK
mainland to Republic of Ireland and from the UK to
Europe.

Locate (as accurately as possible) at least four UK seaports.
□ For each port, identify (using a dotted line) at least 1
typical passenger route from the UK, naming both the UK
(and/or European) port the route begins and ends with.
You must include an example from the UK mainland to
Republic of Ireland and from the UK to Europe.

Locate (as accurately as possible) three motorways and three rail
lines, identifying the destinations connected by them.
MAKE SURE THAT YOUR MAP(S) HAS A TITLE, SCALE, N SIGN AND
KEY.
Task 2 (1A.1 – 2A.M1) Produce a detailed travel plan for:
□ one route of road travel in and around the UK that includes: the
method of transport used, the names of motorways and
roads/coach and bus services (companies named) used, place of
origin and travel and tourism destination (one that has been
identified on your map) and estimated times and any planned
breaks.
□ one route of rail travel in and around the UK that includes: the
method of transport used, the rail lines (e.g. South West Mainline)
and stations (e.g. Bristol Temple Meads), place of origin and travel
and tourism destination (one that has been identified on your map)
and estimated times/any planned breaks.
□ and one route of air travel in and around the UK that includes: the
method of transport used, the airports flown from and to, the
place of origin and travel and tourism destination (one that has

Task 3 (1B4 – 2D.B1 ) Produce either a booklet or leaflet that describes
how one UK town or city destination, one seaside resort and one
countryside area can appeal to two different types of visitors e.g. nonEnglish speaker, families with teenage children. Be clear and describe the
following:
□ The appeal of the destination to at least two visitor types to
include attractions, natural features, the range of accommodation,
facilities, arts and entertainment, sightseeing and transport links.
Be sure to focus your explanations on the type of visitors specified
for example, if you chose ‘families’ then focus on family-friendly
facilities, family attractions etc.)
Recommend how one UK destination might be able to increase its appeal
to different types of visitors.
Justify your own recommendations as to how one UK destination might be
able to increase its appeal to different types of visitors. This should be
based on one of your destinations outlined above.
Task 4 (1C.5 – 1C.D2 ) Using at least two different information sources,
plan two UK holidays, for different types of visitors, producing a detailed
itinerary for each that justifies the choices made. To do this you must:
Use at least two different information sources, plan two UK holidays, for
different types of visitors, producing a detailed itinerary for each, and
justifying choices made. To do this you must:
□ Identify what the customer’s needs are in terms of travel
arrangements etc.
□ You must include the following in the itinerary: dates and times of
travel, modes of travel, departure and destination locations, types
of accommodation, board basis and special features that are
included. This must be produced in a professional manner that can
be given to the customer.
Use the following customer profiles or create your own. If you
choose to create your own you must ensure that you include type of
visitor, motivation (relation, special occasion, activity), features
they are looking for (culture, natural scenery), budget and
destination.
Customer profile A ‘A family of 4 from Newcastle made up of 2
adults and 2 children aged 14 and 16 wish to travel to London for a
weekend break. They wish to go during the school holidays for a
total of 3 nights. They are looking for things the whole family can
enjoy and they wish to be car free for the visit.’
Customer profile B ‘A 20 year old French student wishes to visit
the UK to improve his English. He would like to visit interesting
cities (not London as he has been there before) as well as the
countryside. He is a keen walker and enjoys camping. He is
travelling on his own and is on a tight budget.’
YOU MUST RECORD ALL WEBSITES, BROCHURES AND LEAFLETS
USED (AND KEEP COPIES WHERE POSSIBLE). TO GAIN THE
HIGHEST MARKS, YOU MUST COMMENT ON THE
APPROPRIATENESS OF EACH SOURCE OF INFORMATION GAINED
IN RELATION TO THE TASK.
Analyse ways in which the two planned UK holidays could be adapted to
meet the needs of different types of visitors. You should take into
account the:
□ Alternative preferences that various customer types might have in
terms of transport and accommodation choices, leisure interests
and activities e.g. a family holiday travelling by car to a seaside
resort and staying in a holiday home or caravan. If a couple were to
travel to the same seaside resort, what different alternatives
could be offered, catering more for the needs of a couple?
Evidence you must produce for this task.
A map, travel plan, booklet or leaflet and itinerary spanning the range of
work undertaken.
