CREATE SOUTH 2016 - ABOUT THE PROGRAM & IMPORTANT DATES
Schools from Ultimo Operational Directorate are invited to nominate students to take part in Create
South’s 2016 production. This local schools initiative is a three-day workshop, culminating in an
integrated, high quality performance. We invite students from years 4, 5 and 6, nominated by their
schools as being gifted and talented in band, choir, dance, drama, visual arts and technology.
PROGRAM DETAILS:
The workshops are all held in Sutherland area, at the Public School, Uniting Church Auditorium and
K&V Dance Studios. The performance takes place at Sutherland Entertainment Centre.
• Workshops Monday 17 October and Tuesday 18 October (school hours approx.)
• Continuing Wednesday 19 October (8:30am - 3:30pm) at Sutherland Entertainment Centre and all to
return at 6:30pm – 8:00pm for the show. Show commences at 7:00pm sharp.
REQUIREMENTS:
• All applicants must demonstrate a high level of commitment, skill and cooperative behaviour.
• Eligible students must be able to work independently and in groups with other students and teachers in
environments that may be new to them.
• Art applicants should be suited to working on set construction and / or painting backdrops.
• Band applicants should have at least two years experience playing their instrument.
• Choir applicants will be part of a large vocal ensemble. It would be an advantage to be a
member of a school choir and to read music. Must be able to hold a part with pitch accuracy.
• Dance applicants should have dance training, and need to have experience in performing in front of an
audience.
• Drama applicants need creativity, good voice projection & improvisation skills.
• Technology applicants should be familiar with software related to digital presentations including video
editing.
• All applicants are required to attend a live audition on Tuesday 17 May. Auditions will take place in
various different schools. You will receive confirmation of specific time & place via email after the
application closing date.
COST FOR STUDENT PARTICIPANTS:
Student fees are $175.00 per student for the three days, including workshops and performances.
APPLICATION PROCESS:
1. Students nominated receive this page (to keep) plus permission form (page 3).
2. Parent / carer fill out student application AND permission form.
3. School contact teacher complete school nominations online.
4. All students to attend auditions May 17 – students must bring their signed permission form.
5. Schools will be informed of results after auditions are complete and students have been selected (by 27
May).
6. Fees are due by 17 June.
Please be aware that this program accommodates approximately 200 students from the Ultimo
Operational Directorate. Not all applicants will be successful.
TICKETS TO THE PERFORMANCE:
• Tickets to the show are $25.00 full price and concession (including booking fee)
• The show starts at 7:00pm, Wednesday 19 October at Sutherland Entertainment Centre.

CREATE SOUTH 2016 - STUDENT PERMISSION FORM
In order to be considered for Create South you must complete all steps:
1. Read the ‘About the Program and Important Dates’ page and keep a copy.
2. Apply online at www.createsouth2016.weebly.com page by Thursday 24 March.
3. Fill in this permission form and BRING IT TO THE AUDITION on TUESDAY 17 May.

PARENT’S CONSENT:
1. I give permission for my child, named above, to participate in Create South 2016.
2. I have filled in the Student application form at www.createsouth2016.weebly.com
3. I can provide transport for my child to and from the Create South workshop and performance
venues and to and from the audition.
4. I understand some students may travel between venues by walking, bus or teacher vehicle.
5. I understand that Visual Art students will be working with hand held tools, in a workshop area.
6. I give permission for my child to be involved in promotional activities for this program within NSW
Public Schools. This may include still and video photography and published website material.
7. I provide any information regarding specific medical or physical needs of my child, relevant to their
participation in Create South (e.g. allergies, special needs, medication) by completing the online
application.
7. To the best of my knowledge, my child has no medical condition, disability or injury which places
him / her at risk in participating in the activities provided by Create South..
8. I agree to emergency medical attention being provided for my child if necessary.
9. I understand that if my child is accepted into the program, full payment of $175.00 is required and
Create South student fees are non-refundable.
