Dates for each round to be set by BOP Golf at the end of previous season. Where practical venues to be arranged prior to the start of the competition. First round losers will go into a plate competition for the BOP Trophy. Teams to consist of eight players whose handicap indexes will be totalled. The lowest allowable aggregate handicap index will be 80 and the highest 130. The 4 lowest handicap players will play as “seniors’ and the 4 highest as “juniors”. In Foursomes matchplay allow the high handicapped side 25 % of the difference between the combined course handicaps of the members of each side, e.g. total course handicaps of Team A 20 and Team B 16, the difference between the combined course handicaps of each side is 4 so 25% is 1. In the event of the difference being 0.5 or more the handicap is rounded up and less than 0.5 is rounded down. With foursomes only being 9 holes the lowest rated holes on the 9 played are where strokes are taken. e.g. If front 9 played are all odd stroke holes the 1 shot in the above example would be taken on Stroke hole 1. If there were 2 shots they would be taken on 1 & 3 etc. In singles the highest handicapped player receives the full difference between the course handicaps of the two players. The lowest handicap player shall play from scratch. Strokes received are taken on the holes allocated to the number of strokes conceded. Playing order: Juniors play first in singles playing in handicap order highest to lowest, followed by the seniors also in handicap order. In foursomes players can mix within their handicap range meaning player 8 can pair with player 6 but the highest handicapped first two juniors must be in the first two foursomes’ pairings. Meaning players 8 & 7 must be out in the first or second foursomes group. Penalty, loss of game. In all rounds, the result in the event of matches being equal, to be decided by the margin of holes or subsequently by sudden death combined stableford play commencing at the first hole, the players to participate being one senior and one junior from each team tying, selected by respective captains. Nine hole foursome matches to precede singles matches. Players to play in handicap order in singles. One team per club. General rules controlling the competition to be decided by Bay of Plenty Golf. Host clubs to nominate a match official for the day. Team sheets to be submitted to the host official 15 minutes prior to first foursomes match. Course handicaps will be used on the day of competition.
