Dear Prospective Board Member,
Thank you for your interest in becoming a board member with Habitat Young Professionals of Charlotte
(HYPC). The mission of HYPC is to make affordable housing a matter of conscience and encourage a
spirit of service in our community by engaging young professionals ages 21 to 39. Through HYPC we
allow young professionals the opportunity to: advocate for affordable housing, volunteer time with
Habitat, network with other young professionals, and give within their means.
The Habitat Young Professionals of Charlotte (HYPC) Board is a working board that is made up of 14
board members. As a working board, our board members are actively involved in running networking
events, fundraisers and volunteer days. This year we will welcome several new board members. The
positions available for application are – Vice Chair, Events, Membership and Sponsorship. For more
details on the time requirements and responsibilities for each position, please see the attached roles and
responsibilities document.

Ability to participate actively in HYP Board Committee work and meetings
Commitment to strategic planning and ability to take a “big picture” view of what would benefit the entire
program
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented context
A willingness to communicate with affiliates, local groups and other Habitat partners regarding HYP Board
issues and decisions
Commitment to Habitat for Humanity’s foundational principles and mission
Previous involvement with Habitat for Humanity is preferred, preferably with a Habitat Young Professionals
