What is the most popular sport in
Canada?

Canada ranks ninth in the world when it comes to registered athletes in soccer. Since at
least 1998 soccer has ranked as the number one sport in Canada for children between
the age of five and fourteen. At that time, 32% of boys and girls participating in sports
were playing soccer. In 2010, the number had jumped to 42%. More Canadian adults play
golf than ice hockey, while for kids under 14, almost twice as many play soccer than
hockey.
We took a survey at our school, and this was
our results of the first three sports. The
results are a little different from what we
expected.

What is our most successful sport?
Even though hockey isn’t our most popular sport, it
is our most successful sport in Canada.
Hockey is one of the most successful sports in
Canada.
It is our most successful in the Olympics. We usually
win silver or gold. Our hockey wins a lot of cups, as
well. We have a strong hockey team and strong
players.
