ST.96 XML SCHEMAS VERSION 0.11
RELEASE NOTES ON MARCH 08, 2012
GENERAL REMARKS
1.
This release notes provides information on the changes of ST.96 Schemas since its version
0.10 in order to reflect comments, proposals and discussions made by the XML4IP Task Force
members including the International Bureau (IB). The version 0.11 is the final draft of XML schema
which is presented for consideration and adoption by the Committee on WIPO Standards at its
second session.
COMMON COMPONENT SCHEMAS

The versionIndicator attribute has been removed because no corresponding component
exists in WIPO Standards ST.36, ST.66 and ST.86 and no new requirement was raised by TF
members. Further information is available on the XML4IP TF Wiki page of IssueID-389.

The following components have been moved to Common namespace from Patent because
they are commonly used (expected to be used commonly): ImageRendititionCategoryType,
imageStatusCategory(Type) and ImageResolutionQuantity.

At PhoneNumberCategoryType, “Other” has been added as a value for transformation with
WIPO Standards ST.66 or ST.86.

The @identifierKindCode and RegistrationOfficeCode refer to ExtendedWIPOST3CodeType
instead of WIPOST3CodeType.

As a consequence of moving ImageRendititionCategoryType, imageStatusCategory(Type)
and ImageResolutionQuantity to Common from Patent namespace,

@imageRenditionCategory refers to com:ImageRenditionCategoryType instead of
pat:ImageRenditionCategoryType; and

PatentImageType refers to com:imageStatusCategory and
com:ImageResolutionQuantity instead of pat:imageStatusCategory and
pat:ImageResolutionQuantity
At IPOASISTableType, the cardinality of ‘id’ is set to optional for transformation with ST.36.

OASISTable.xsd has been renamed to OASISTable-V0-1.xsd to add version information in
its file name.

As a consequence of moving ImageRendititionCategoryType, MarkImageRenditionCategory
refers to com:ImageRenditionCategoryType instead of tmk:MarkImageRenditionCategoryType.
10. NiceClassNumberType refers to a union of xsd:string (instead of xsd:token) and
NiceClassStrictNumberType in order to follow DRCs.
11. NiceClassStrictNumberType refers to xsd:positiveInteger instead of xsd:nonNegativeInteger
as a base type for following DRCs.
DESIGN COMPONENT SCHEMAS
12. RightEffectiveDate has been moved from DesignRecordType to DesignType.
13. EarlierDesignCountryCode has been revised to refer to ExtendedWIPOST3CodeType
instead of WIPOST3Code.
14. LocarnoClassNumberType has been revised to refer to a union of xsd:string (instead of
xsd:token) and LocarnoClassStrictNumberType for following DRCs.
