(IM and Tech) will expire in 2011
(Secqual S2010/010 - 30 March 2010)
• Unit standard based courses can still be run
for Yr12/13 students and will still contribute
to NCEA quals.
• Some expiry of Computing US as a result of
duplication with new AS, not known until all

• There will be a transition period
Course endorsement (not subject)
• Starts in 2011
• Courses can be endorsed with M or E
• Course must have a minimum of 14 credits of
graded standards and at least 3 credits must
either be externally assessed or 3 credits
internally assessed (i.e no fully internal or
external courses are permitted)
• A course can contain US but over and above
14 credits required (US not for endorsement
but could count for NCEA)
Course planning
• Should contain balance
• Should consider the front end of the NZ
curriculum as well as the learning area
• NOT be assessment driven
• Provide many different learning experiences
and opportunities
• Provide opportunity to gain M and E
• Provide a relevant and interesting context
