Off to Empire Games
Girls softball
On July 11 and 12, Christopher Burlee, as a represen­
tative of the Canandaigua Area Track Team, competed
in the Region 2 Junior Olympic Track and Field Trials at
Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. He placed 7th
in the discus with a throw of 125’ 3’ and 10th in the jav­
elin throw (111’ 7").
On June 28 Chris participated in the Western Region
Empire State Games Trials at the University of Roches­
ter. He placed 4th in the discus and 2nd in the javelin.
The Newark Senior Division Girls softball All Star
Team lost their first Tournament game to Geneva on
July 12. They will play at home on JSIy l7 against the
loser of the Waterloo •Geneva game Game time is 6
p.m.
During Sunday’s game at Geneva, Patty Tellier re
craved a cut on her knee while sliding into second base
Eight stitches were required and she will be out of action
(or 10 days.

Tournament held
The annual Silver Slipper Golf tournament was held
on July 11, at the Newark Country Club.
The winners were Judi Graybill and Naomi Evans
with a 63. The Flight A winners: First flight Arlene
Semmler and Sue Balschmiter with a 64; Young Lee and
Alice Burgdorph at 66; Pat Havrilla and Jane Davis at
67.
Flight B: Janet Lefebvre and Marge Lawlor at 68;
Betty DeMay and Phylis Smith at 71; Sarah Naeye and
Eunice Buss, third place.
Flight C: Connie Chelenza and Chris Enser; Pinky
Tiebout and Grace Skinkle; Micki Fagner and Dorothy

In softball action (Monday-Wednesday) division on
July 7, Sharpies defeated Old Galen Inn by the score of
18-8. It was Joey’s over Halftime 17-13. On June 22, it
was Joey’s over Dingman Electric 8-5, and Dorn’s won
by forfeit over Dingman Electric.
In the Tuesday, Thursday, Friday Division it was JC s
over Fun and Food 18-13, on July 9. Comer Tavern de­
feated Walker Realty 184. Silver Bullets over Grecos
13-11. Zappia Vending over the Rail 15-1. On July 7, S
and K Electric over Freunds 14-2; Grecos 4, Carriage

The Newark Eagles Soccer team extended its record
to 8-0 with a 41 win over the Röchest® Vietnamese
Club ön July 12.
Newark’s first goal came five minutes into the game
when Jose Montez scored from an assist by Jorge Bueso. The second goal came unassisted from Oscar Acpsta.
In the second half, Acosta scored. The final goal
came from a 20-yard direct kick from Sandy Bueso.
Newark will host the Victor Soccer Club at 3 p.m.
