In the Junior Years (U11 – U13) Constantly reminder yourself (and other parents) these are 10 to 12 year olds, not test cricketers Moving age groups through together o o o o Developing an understanding of the game o We endeavour to keep groups together, rather than blend top age and bottom age we aim to keep friends together Initial team selection may involve groups of friends playing together in the one team. Our experience shows that some great friendships for both parents and children are made as the teams move through the grade together. We cannot guarantee that all children will play with every friend. We will put groups of friends together in order to fill team numbers. The first year in an age group is development, in year two the team competes at a higher level Basic rules and fielding positions – coaches & managers be active during the game each week explaining the rules and fielding positions Encouraging every child o o o Always focus on the positives, encourage the kids no matter what the result Remember Kids develop at different rates Build the team, don’t allow criticism of teammates Malvern Junior Cricket Club guidelines Page 3 of 10 Participating in every facet - in every game in the early years Batting Bowling Rotate batting order every week U11’s: We aim to give every child the chance to open the batting and bat number 11.
