Coalition Increasing the availability of information for senior Victorians The program will provide information to seniors and carers of older people, including on mental health and preventative health Unavailable 19 November 2014 Request for additional information on the nature of the proposed activities on 19 November 2014. Additional information received on 20 November 2014: The funding will be provided to provide information to seniors and carers of older people, including on mental health and preventative health. The program will be managed to fit within the available funding, and is similar to the existing program 'Increasing the availability of information for senior Victorians'. DTF notes that this program is similar to the 2013-14 Budget initiative ‘Increasing the availability of information for senior Victorians’ which funds awareness raising activities for senior Victorians. This was funded at $0.500 million per year and lapses in 2016-17. DTF notes that the proposal seeks to extend the current program. DTF considers that the cost estimate is reasonable as the program is scalable and can be managed to a fixed budget. The cost of the proposed output initiative for the forward estimates period is set out below: DTF costing of output initiative 2014-15 ($ million) 2015-16 ($ million) 2016-17 ($ million) 0.000 0.000 0.100 Four year total (2014-15 to 2017-18 2017-18) ($ million) ($ million) 0.500 0.600 The Coalition has included an estimate for 2018-19 of $0.500 million. DTF has undertaken a costing of this figure and considers $0.500 million to be a reasonable estimate for 2018-19 and notes that this would bring the total estimated cost of the proposal to $1.100 million over five years.
