Dear Parents
Welcome back Basketball mums and dads.
We are back again with another round of League Matches as part of our School Sports
Programme for the session 2013-14.
We would like to thank you all for your great involvement which contributed towards
making it a huge success. These Leagues have served as a great platform for the mental
and physical development of the students.
The Sports period of students from Classes II to X will be used to introduce and develop
the game of Basketball in a structured manner from the months of July to September. The
skills learnt can be put to practice by participating in the Basketball League.
Matches will be played in school every Saturday, July through September. The League will
only be organizing the matches and will not provide any Basketball coaching. Basketball
coaching is an inherent part of the sports programme at school and is done once a week
during school hours. Parents/Coaches can request for the use of the premises for extra
practice after school hours during the week as and when required, by filling in a request
form available with the Sports teacher.
Let’s get the ball rolling and move towards a great year of sporting excellence!
Highlights of the Vivek High Basketball League:
1. The League body will process forms filled by participants and design the structure of
each division. Each division will have teams from the same age group.
2. Each team will have a coach and a manager chosen from the parents of the
participants of the particular team. The Managers are to make sure team members
turn up on time for matches and the coaches are to motivate and guide the team
during matches .All parents will be briefed thoroughly on their roles as League
parents at the Orientation Session.
3. The school will provide the infrastructure and the League body, which consists of
the League officials, referees, play fields, goal posts, website updates and fixtures.
4. Each player will play for his or her team over a period of three months –July
through September (as per the programme below), competing with other teams of
the same age group.
5. Each team will have its own identity (playing kit and name).
6. No transport facility will be provided by the school.
7. Drinks like lassi, flavoured milk, juice, tea and coffee will be available on payment.
8. The League will kick off with an Orientation Session for parents and players on
