GHS Thespian Troupe #4274 will hold their annual spring induction ceremony
tonight May 17 at 7:30 pm in the auditorium. New members Tom Clower, Ieland Flanagan,
Robert Shore, Corinne Dahlby-Albright, Katherine Leathem-Rietz, Mezerkerta Tesfay, Bella
Amador-Lacson, Theresa Crawford, Jonah Eisen, Logan Deppe, Maile Latham, Jade Scheffert
and Emma Ware will be honored. Students receiving honor thespian status will be recognized:
Gillian Ferguson, Daniel Rebelsky, Oswaldo Ambrosio, Chloe Baumann, Rebecca Crawford,
Cici Dugas, Alisha Ford, Emma Harrington, Michelle Krumm, Maggie Levandoski and Julien
Moisan. Students who have attained the National Honor Thespian status: David Gilbert, Zach
Loftin, Leah Ramsey and Steven Sharpe, and one senior earns the International Honor
Thespian status: Maddie Topliff. Thirteen members of the class of 2017 will also be
honored: Lucas Chamberland, David Gilbert, Jaylene Hall, Cara Klyn, Zac Loftin, Leah Ramsey,
Steven Sharpe, Madelyn Topliff, Reanna Campbell, Naomi Veldboom, Ashley Peak, Elijah Willig
and Sierra Whisenand.
Current troupe members please meet after school today in the auditorium to prepare for
tonight's ceremony.

SENIORS:
1 - Pick up your check-out sheet in the main office. This must be completed by Friday.
2 - Please remember to check your lunch account balance before signing out--negative
balances must be taken care of before your sheet is signed. Kim will be available from 8:30 am
to 11 am and 1 pm to 2 pm on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday to sign sheets. Come to the
kitchen door in the Ag hallway for assistance. Thank you!
3 - You may pick up your commencement cap and gown in the office. The charge is $20.00. If
you qualify for free or reduced fees, those will apply. The cap and tassel are yours to keep.
The gown will be returned after the ceremony.
Do you want volunteer hours? Sign up to water trees!! We need volunteers to help water
our newly planted trees this summer. If you sign up, you’ll receive more information as well as a

Last day to order 2016-17 yearbooks is May 19th, no extra books will be ordered. These can be
purchased through the office or on Jostens website. May 19th is also the last day for senior
Recognition Ads.
GHS is once again offering a summer school program to assist students in the recovery of
credits they may have lost during the regular school year for various reasons. Please see letter
previously attached and on our website.
Meningitis vaccination for 2017/18 students: Iowa law now requires all students who will be
enrolling in 7th and 12th grades (beginning with the 2017/18 school year), to receive a
meningococcal vaccine prior to the first day of school. There is no grace period to get the
vaccination after the start of school. Any student entering 12th grade (born after 9/15/1999)
and does not have the required vaccination or a certified exemption on file with the
school, will be UNABLE TO START SCHOOL IN THE 2017/18 SCHOOL YEAR. Vaccinations
can be received by making an appointment with your local family doctor’s office or through
Grinnell Public Health at 236-2385. Further information can be found on the G-N CSD website
located under the Parents & Students/Health Information tab.

The outdoor program is hosting a year-end celebration camp out on May 20-21 at Scoutland in
Grinnell. If you are interested in having a great time, learning new skills and winning prizes, this
is the place to be. You will have the choice of building your own shelter or tent camping. The
camp out will start at noon Saturday, May 20th and conclude by 9:00 am Sunday. There is no
cost and no limit to participants. Sign up at Ms. Meyer’s room, (60) to pick up forms.
