Start Learning to Save Fuel! With your gauges set, your ScanGauge is now ready to provide real-time feedback about your fuel usage as you drive. This will allow you to see what adjustments in your driving style can be made to actually raise or lower your Average Fuel Economy (AVG). Your goal is to bring up your AVG reading as high as possible. To do this, try and 20.5AVG 1.2GPH adjust your driving style so that your Miles Per Gallon (MPG) reading is equal to or 25.2MPG 9.20TFC higher than your AVG. You can also use the Gallons/Liters Per Hour (GPH/LPH) to gauge how much fuel your vehicle will use each hour of driving. The Trip Fuel Cost (TFC) gauge will show you the total cost of the fuel used. These features include a set of real-time digital gauges dedicated to showing you your actual profit or loss as it relates to your fuel usage and driving style. The Answer to “What is the best speed to drive?” The question, “What is the best speed to drive?”, comes up often. It is common knowledge that driving slower increases fuel economy and reduces your costper-mile. If this were the only thing to consider, driving slower would be the best thing to do. In the real world, you get paid by the mile, so going slower reduces the amount you are paid for the item you are driving. Since fuel-economy drops very quickly as your speed goes up, there will be an “optimum” speed where your rate minus your fuel cost will give you the most income-per-hour. Although speed is not the only thing affecting this, it is the dominant one. Factors that Will Effect Your Hourly Profits 1. Cost of Fuel Use the steps below to find the “optimum” driving technique to maximize your profits. 1. To get started, navigate to the CURRENT Trip compute screen. Use the upper left or upper right function buttons to select the $/Hour parameter. 2. With the $/Hour trip computer displaying, begin driving. Once you reach a stable speed, push the lower right function button RESET 3. Continue driving at a steady speed. Wait for the reading to stabilize. This will usual happen in a mile or two. 2. Although, not a complete list, these factors will have an effect over the “optimum” speed in which to drive to maximize your hourly profits. 6. Adjusting your speed, gearing and other factors you control will effect your income-per-hour reading. The $PH gauge can be used to find the maximum income point for the current driving conditions. You can also use TRIP A or B to find the best conditions for an entire section of a route. For instance, if one part of the route takes you through the mountains, reset Trip A or B at the start of that section. When you have passed through this section, you can then view what your income was for that section.
