Would you like to instill important values in your players such as: giving back to the community as well as increasing their knowledge about Staying Well, Getting Well, Finding Cures and Fighting Back against cancer? Coaches vs. Cancer is a national program led by our country’s coaches in the most important game of all…..beating cancer. The following ideas can be utilized at a baseball game to raise funds for the American Cancer Society and to spread our important, lifesaving mission! Raising Money - Utilize our website at coachesvscancerindiana.org and fundraise online! Do a pledge-a-thon for runs, strike-outs or home runs Accept donations in place of an admission charge Sell baseball T-shirts (themes: strike out cancer, swing against cancer) Do a mini-clinic prior to or following the game for local kids for a donation Organize a fundraising invitational or tournament with multiple baseball teams Challenge the opposing team to a fundraising war Secure local sponsorships in support of your game Find a local restaurant to donate food or concessions items for the game Incorporating the Mission and Cancer Awareness - Honor a survivor and let them throw out the first pitch Instead of using white paint for lines, use another color to raise awareness (blue for prostate or colorectal, pink for breast cancer, purple for general cancer awareness, etc.) Wear colored wristbands and/or face paint Sell luminary bags in honor or memory of those affected by cancer and display at the game Print off Coaches vs. Cancer materials (available on the website) and pass out at the game Use mission messaging (available on the website) in school assemblies, pre-game ceremony, timeouts, etc. Spread the Word - Use our customizable flyer (available on the website) to put up at your school and email to friends and family Encourage area little league and youth teams to attend the event Advertise the event on your school website, e-Newsletter, and social media channels Get Your Whole School Involved - Sell Coaches vs. Cancer donation cards prior to and at the game to create a Wall of Hope with the names of those touched by cancer Have a spare change contest between classrooms/grade levels Have a coach or teacher issue a fundraising challenge – hit a specific level and they’ll get pied in the face, shave their heads, etc. Want to participate?
