Rogers Trap Mission
• To emphasize the positive influence the
shooting sports can have in a person’s life.
• Obtained by:
– providing a safe, positive environment
– promoting the highest standards of safety
– sportsmanship

2017 Season Preview
• Practice/Qualifying shoots in March
• Competitions April through May
• MSHSCTL State Shoot in Alexandria
– Everyone attends (Date announced mid May)
• MSHSL State Championships
– Top 100 State Wide Qualify
– Team Qualifier from Alexandria
Team Membership
• Maximum of 60 AND the number of volunteers
– Based on 1:6 adult to shooter
– Final roster size is determined via ratio
• Team Member Priority:
– Returning members
– New RHS members
• Practice Scores
– If 60 is exceeded, top practice scores earn roster spot
– Also needed if not enough parent volunteers

• MSHSCTL recognizes the following shooting
averages:
– Varsity: 19.0 – 25
– JV: 15.0 – 18.9
– Novice: 0 – 14.9
Weather
• We will shoot rain, snow, wind, or sun.
• Dress appropriately for the weather
• Weather related decisions will be made by 1:30
PM on shooting days.

• Lightning
– Shooting suspended for 20 min
– Continued lightning resets 20 min clock
– Cancellations released via Twitter and Text

We need your help
Team size based on volunteer numbers
Maintain a 1:6 ratio

Safety while shooting
Respecting all firearm rules and enforcement
Scoring and/or pulling
Assist with check-in, shooting group organization, clean-up, etc.
• No experience necessary
• A background check is required, per school district, for
adults working/interacting with students.
• Parents are always welcome to attend and watch!
Travel:
• No bus transportation
• Coordinate rides with other team members or
parents
• Please arrive 15 min early before scheduled
shooting time.
• Gun and ammo MUST remain at home
Equipment:
• Proper fitting shotgun

Lettering:
• In order to earn a Varsity Letter:
– Each team member must participate in the Reserve
Rounds, Competition Rounds, and the MSHSCTL State
Shoot. (7 scoring events)
– Earn a Varsity average of 19.0 – 25 in those events
• Or participate in the 7 Shooting Events and achieve:
– Four (4) Straight 25 or One (1) Straight 50
• Note: If the Varsity Team wins the MSHSCTL State
Shoot or MSHSL State Championship, each member
will earn a Letter provided they shot in the 7 Shooting
Events.
ISD 728 Weapons Policy
Minnesota Statutes 1992, Section 609.605, Subdivison ld:
3. Definitions:
a. As used in this policy and the above Subdivision,
“school property” means: school building and its
grounds… or secondary school students.
As used in this policy a dangerous weapon means any
firearm, whether loaded or unloaded, a facsimile of a
firearm or any device designed as a weapon and
capable of producing death or great bodily harm.

4. Intention
a. The School Board of ISD 728 declares its clear
intention to expel students and press all
possible charges against students and adults
found to be in violation of this weapons policy.
An expulsion could be imposed for up to one
(1) calendar year.
