State Lacrosse Tournament
BROOKLYN CENTER, Minn. --- The State Lacrosse Tournament is scheduled for June 13, 15, and 17, at
Minnetonka High School and Chanhassen High School. Here is a look at the tournament:

Webcast: All championship bracket games, including the quarterfinals, will be webcast live at PrepSpotlight.tv.
There is no charge.
Tickets: Single session: $8 for adults and $5 for students. Tournament pass: $21 for adults and $12 for students.
Ticketholders may also attend games on the same day at both venues with their ticket stub and a hand stamp.

BOYS’ QUARTERFINAL MATCHUPS
The four quarterfinals will be played at Chanhassen High School on Tues., June 13. Both championship
and consolation semifinals move to Minnetonka High School on Thur., June 15. On Sat., June 17, the
consolation championship and third-place games will be played at Minnetonka High School and the
championship game will be played at Chanhassen High School.
Anoka (15-1) vs. No. 3 Seed – Benilde-St. Margaret’s, St. Louis Park (14-2) at 11 a.m. The Tornadoes
of Anoka, who placed sixth in 2016, are making their second consecutive and overall appearance. The Red
Knights of Benilde-St. Margaret’s are in the hunt for their fourth title. They won previously in 2007, 2010, and
2011. This is their fourth appearance, but first since 2011. Benilde averages 11.5 goals per game and their
opponents average 4.9 against them.
Wayzata (11-4) vs. No. 2 Seed – Eden Prairie (15-1) at 1 p.m. The Wayzata Trojans are making their
second consecutive and fourth overall appearance. They are hoping to improve on last year’s fourth-place
finish. The Eden Prairie Eagles are making their seventh consecutive appearance and their eighth overall. They
are looking for their third championship, having won previously in 2013 and 2014. Eden Prairie is looking to
improve on last year’s third-place showing.
No. 5 Seed – Prior Lake (13-3) vs. No. 4 Seed – Mahtomedi (15-1) at 3 p.m. The defending champions
from Prior Lake return for their second consecutive and overall appearance. The Lakers scored 171 goals this
season and their opponents tallied 58. Mahtomedi returns to the tournament after a one-year hiatus. This is the
third overall appearance for the Zephyrs.
Lakeville North (9-7) vs. No. 1 Seed – Eagan (15-1) at 5 p.m. The Lakeville Panthers, who earned
runner-up honors in 2016 return for their fourth consecutive and overall appearance. Luke Spanier led Lakeville
North with 61 points off 27 goals and 34 assists. The Eagan Wildcats earned the consolation title in 2016 and
are returning for their second consecutive appearance. This is their third appearance overall.
GIRLS’ QUARTERFINAL MATCHUPS
All quarterfinals will be played on Tues., June 13 at Minnetonka High School, and all semifinal games
will be played at Chanhassen High School on Thur., June 15. The consolation title game, third-place, and
championship games will be played at Chanhassen High School on Sat., June 17.
Cretin-Derham Hall, St. Paul (14-2) vs. No. 3 Seed – The Blake School, Minneapolis (12-4) at 11 a.m.
Cretin-Derham Hall is making its second consecutive and overall appearance. The Raiders fell in the
consolation semifinals in 2016. Maya Quigley led Cretin-Derham Hall with 34 points this season. The Blake
School is hoping to improve on last year’s runner-up showing. The Bears are making their 11th consecutive and
overall appearance and are looking for their seventh title. They won their first championship in 2008 and then
won five consecutive titles from 2010-2014. The Blake School averaged 14.1 goals per game this season and
their opponents averaged 7.0 against them.
Maple Grove (13-3) vs. No. 2 Seed – Prior Lake (15-1) at 1 p.m. Maple Grove is making its second
consecutive appearance and third overall. The Crimson placed sixth in 2016. Emily Herdine paced this year’s
squad with 56 goals and 23 assists. The Prior Lake Lakers return for their third consecutive and overall
appearance. They placed fourth in 2016.
No. 5 Seed – Stillwater Area (14-2) vs. No. 4 Seed – Farmington (14-2) at 3 p.m. Stillwater Area is
making its seventh consecutive and overall appearance. The Ponies settled for third-place honors last year. Gina
Jablonski is the top point-scorer for Stillwater Area; she had 73 during the regular season. The Farmington
Tigers are making their first tournament appearance. The Tigers scored an average of 12.7 goals per game this
year. Their opponents averaged 6.8 against them.
Blaine (15-1) vs. No. 1 Seed – Eden Prairie (15-1) at 5 p.m. The Blaine Bengals, who fell in the
consolation semifinals last year, are making their second consecutive and overall appearance. The two-time
defending champions from Eden Prairie return in search of more gold. If they win, it would be their fifth title. In
addition to the past two years, the Eagles also won in 2007 and 2009. This is the 11th consecutive and overall
appearance for Eden Prairie.
2016 STATE TOURNAMENT RECAP
Boys’ --- On the boys’ side, the Lakers of Prior Lake won their first championship in their debut
appearance. They defeated Lakeville North 12-5 in the title game. The Lakeville North Panthers earned fourthplace honors in 2015. Eden Prairie went home with the third-place hardware after posting a 14-10 victory over
Wayzata. In the consolation final, Eagan defeated Anoka 12-5.
Girls’ --- The Eden Prairie girls won their second consecutive championship after defeating The Blake
School 11-9. It was the fourth overall title for the Eagles. In addition to the past two years, they also won in
2007 and 2009. The runner-up showing was an improvement for The Blake School; the Bears placed third in
2015. Stillwater Area defeated Prior Lake 7-6 in the third-place game and Lakeville South beat Maple Grove
13-10 in the consolation final.
