Lesson 2.2 Analyze Conditional Statements
Remember when your mom would say, if you do this... then ....
conditional statement a logical statement that has two parts, a hypothesis and a conclusion
ifthen form a conditional statement with an if and a then
hypothesis the "if" part of a conditional statement
conclusion the "then" part of a conditional statement
What is the hypothesis and the conclusion?
If it is raining, then there are clouds in the sky.

Expl 1. Rewrite the conditional statement in ifthen form.
a. All birds have feathers.
b. Two angles are supplementary if they are a linear pair.
Rewrite the conditional statement in ifthen form.
1. All 90o angles are right angles. 2. 2x + 7 = 1, because x = 3.

Converse a conditional statement with the hypothesis and converse switched
Inverse a conditional statement with negation of hypothesis and converse
Contrapositive a conditional statement with the hypothesis and converse switched and negated
