LET’SPLAYBALL!
ChallengerisadivisionofLittleLeagueBaseballforchildrenwhohavephysicalordevelopmentalconditionsthat
preventsafeparticipationinotherbaseballprograms.RulesaremodifiedintheChallengerprogramandasoft
baseballisused.Thefocusisalwaysonhavingfunwhilelearningthegameofbaseball.Noscoreiskept,each
playerbatseveryinning,andeveryoneplaystheentiregame.Playersareassignedabuddywhoworkstoensure
safetyandsuccess.
TherearethreeChallengerprogramsinourlocalarea—sponsoredbyGrottoesCommunityLittle
League,BridgewaterCommunityLittleLeague,andtheHarrisonburgLittleLeagueAssociation.
Childrenwholivewithintheboundariesofoneoftheseprogramsmustplayintheirhomeleague.
Thoselivinginotherareasmayplayinanyleaguethathasavailablespace.Followingis
