geocaching or just want to know more? We will host a one hour introduction to
geocaching at 11am, following the flash mob.
Kid’s First Family Centre Family Carnival Fundraiser:
June10. 11am-4pm at the arena. Sparkle Tattoos, Games, Prizes, Popcorn, Cotton

Busy B’s Farmers Market:
Starting on July 20. Come enjoy fresh produce, fun and other items every Tuesday
from 3pm to 6pm and Saturdays from 11am to 2pm at the Curling Rink throughout
the summer.
National Aboriginal Day:
June 21. Buffalo Jump. In the “Moon of the Longest Day”, we celebrate First
Nations’ contribution to Canadian society. Experience the sound and spectacle of
drumming and dancing. Interact with our performers. Listen to Blackfoot Elders tell
stories about the plains buffalo culture. Guided facility tours, a live display of
Alberta Birds of Prey, and indigenous food sampling are all included. Try your hand
at Atl Atl throwing, an ancient hunting technique.

Inshala:
June 23-25. Come celebrate 10 years of the Inshala Community! Flow through the
waves of world class musical acts. Receive & rejuvenate on a variety of topics

Canada Day Celebrations:
June 1st at the Fort Museum. Start off with a bang at 9am with a cannon
demonstration. There will be kid’s games throughout the day, watermelon eating
contest, horse shoes, drum and dance, scavenger hunt, and much more. Musical
ride will begin on Canada Day and continue throughout the summer. Tours of Jerry
Pots grave site and the original fort site will also take place. There will be an
unveiling of a new exhibit! For more information, please contact the Fort Museum

Vacation Bible School: Operation Artic
VBS at the Fort Macleod Alliance Church will run from 9am-12pm for kids ages 4-7
and from 9am-2:30pm for kids ages 8-12. Please call the Alliance Church for more

Scavenger Hunt:
July 4. Come pick up a scavenger hunt for the month of July. Make your way around
town to find the correct answers and then bring it back to FCSS before August 1 st to

Free Youth Movie:
July 5. Guardians of the Galaxy will be playing at the Empress Theatre starting at
7:00pm. FREE to anybody accompanied by a youth 12-19 years of age. Call FCSS for

Teddy Bear Picnic:
July 6. Bring a teddy bear for snacks and fun to the Lioness Park at 10am until 12pm.

Tea Party (kids):
July 11. Ages 6+. Meet at the Scouts Hall at 9am to get dressed for the tea, or to
show off the outfit you already have on! The tea starts at 10am at the Mackenzie
House where there will be lots of fun and games! Pick up will be at 12pm at the

Scientist for the Day:
July 12. Ages 6+. The Scientist in School program is coming to teach us all about
Newton’s Law and how to run our own experiments at 9:30 am at the Scouts Hall!
Following that, until 12:30pm, we will be doing a craft! Call FCSS for more

Tea Party (adults):
July 13. The tea will be hosted at the Mackenzie House where we will meet at
10am. Come dressed in your best “going out” outfit! Spaces are limited to a max. of
8 people, so don’t forget to pre-register soon at FCSS 403-553-4491. Call FCSS for

EMPRESS THEATRE SUMMER CAMPS:
Stories with Character: July 10-14. 10 am – 4 pm Monday to Friday -Students will
spend mornings doing creative activities focusing on acting and storytelling. They
will work together with instructors to create, rehearse, and perform an original
short play. Performance will be Friday at 4:00 pm. To register, call the Empress
Theatre at 403-553-4404. $125
Puppet Adventures:
July 17-21. Campers will find, build, make, invent their own puppet-find its voice
and character and show it off! Kids will learn many new things in this half-day camp
and have fun too. They will be able to take their puppet home and keep it forever.
Performance will be Friday at 1pm. To register, please call the Empress Theatre at
403-553-4404. $65.
KIDS ROCK CAMP:
July 17-21. Space is limited-18 spots. Ages 8-16. This camp is for young, budding
musicians. Rock campers will form groups & collaborate on writing, rehearsal &
performance of material. No experience necessary. Instruments provided or bring
your own. Live performance July 21. Cost: $150.00
Show and Tell Photo Opportunity:
July 18. Ages 8-13. Come down to the Scouts Hall at 1:00pm where you will be
taught about photography and get the chance to take your own pictures around
Fort Macleod. Pick up will be at 3:30pm, also at the Scouts Hall. Following the
picture taking we will make frames to showcase all of the favorite pictures at the
next Busy B’s Farmers Market on Tuesday July 25th. Please pre-register by

Escape the Empress: (this event is for families and or teams)
July 17 and 19. We’re bringing an escape room to Fort Macleod! Put your skills to
the test and try to escape the Empress’ historical dressing room. You are a
performer and you’ve been locked in! Using clues, puzzles and more, you have a
time limit of 1 hour to get out of the room! Good luck! Times TBA. Please

Wilderness Walk:
July 20. Ages 6+. Join us as we make our way from the Scouts Hall down to the
Wilderness Park so we can explore together! We will be meeting at the Scouts Hall
at 10am and pick up will be at 12:30pm. Please pre-register through FCSS. Call FCSS

Board Game Night:
July 20. Ages 12+. Come play board games with us at Café Orange from 7pm-9pm!
Games will be available, or you can bring some of your favorites from home. Free

South Country Fair: www.southcountryfair.com
July 21-23. The mission of South Country Fair has always been to expand cultural
horizons in Southern Alberta by giving our citizens the opportunity to experience a
diversity of music, spoken word and performance art in the context of a three-day,
camping-style, old-world outdoor folk music festival.
EMPRESS THEATRE SUMMER CAMP:
Creativity in Motion: July 24-28. Dance theatre. Participants will explore
movement through dance. Performance will be Friday at 4pm. To register, call the

Show & Tell Photo Op. Part 2:
July 25. Ages 8-13. Showcase all of your favorite pictures taken at the first Show
and Tell Opportunity at the Busy B’s Famers Market today! Come to the market at
3pm! Be sure to pre-register with FCSS and/or call for more information at

Amazing Race: (this event is for families and or teams)
July 26. The race will begin at the Lioness Park at 6:30pm where your team/family
will need to find clues and complete challenges around town to make your way to
the finish line! Please pre-register your team/family with FCSS (403-553-4491).
Boat Races:
July 27. Ages 6+. Meet us at the Scouts Hall at 12:30pm to build boats out of
materials that FCSS will provide, or you can bring items from home to share! We
will all build together and then walk down to the swimming pool to race our boats
during public swim at 2pm. We will also test them on things like ability to float and
creativity! After, we will stay until 4:30 for public swim, and pick up will be at the
Scouts Hall at 5:00. Please pre-register through FCSS and/or call for more

Front Yard BBQ:
July 27. Celebrate summer by eating outside and getting to know your neighbors
while enjoying the great outdoors from 5pm-7pm! Citizens on Patrol and FCSS will
be driving around the community and entering addresses of the people who are on
their front yard for a randomly drawn prize of a steak dinner! If you are missed by
Citizens on Patrol and FCSS, call 403-553-4491 to get your address entered. Call

Wacky Water Day:
July 28. Ages 6+. This event is for ages 6 and up. We will meet at the Scouts Hall at
10am for fun outdoor water activities until 3pm. There will be water balloons,

Skateboard Demo with Boarderline: (everyone welcome)
August 8. From 3-6pm, Boarderline is coming to Fort Macleod and their team will be
teaching riders the basics of boarding and they will also be riding with those who
are already confident. There will be treats, prizes and a DJ. The event will be held at
the skateboard park near the pool. Call FCSS for more information 403-553-4491.
Super Sport Day:
August 10. Games and all sorts of outdoor activities will be going on at the Scouts
Hall for kids ages 6+. Lunch and a snack will be provided. This FREE event will begin

Reader Theatre: August 14-18. Bring your favorite storybook to camp and
together we will put a scene from it on the stage. The acting out of dialogue helps
participants improve their vocabulary, comprehension and retention in a safe, fun
and collaborative setting. Performance will be Friday at 1pm. To register, call the

Escape the Empress: (this event is for families and or teams)
August 14, 16, 17 and 18. We’re bringing an escape room to Fort Macleod! Put your
skills to the test and try to escape the Empress’ historical dressing room using clues,
puzzles and more. You’ll have a time limit of 1 hour to get out of the room! Good

Lego Challenge:
August 15. You are challenged to create your very best Lego masterpiece! Bring
your creation to the Busy B’s Farmers Market before 5pm for judging. Prizes will be

exciting ins and outs of performing and create short vignettes that will appear in
our variety show on Friday evening. Campers will explore a variety of styles

Cruisin the Dub ft. Kiddie Cruisers:
August 24. Make your own car at home and join the car show! Kids are welcome to
come out to play games and show off their home made ride! We will parade
through the A&W drive thru and get a free treat! The event begins at 6pm and goes

Treasure Hunters:
August 22. Ages 6+. Come and hunt for treasure with us!! We will meet at the
Scouts Hall at 1pm and walk down to the Wilderness Park where we will hunt for
FREE treasure! Kids are to be picked up at the Scouts Hall at 3:30pm later that day.

Back to School Connect:
Aug. 23 from 4-7pm. Free, fun event for the whole community at the Fort Macleod
Arena. Combines a huge clothing and footwear exchange with free professional
services, games, give-a-ways, snacks and lots of family fun for parents, caregivers,
children and youth. Drop off your “gently used” clothing/footwear for the whole
family to FCSS or Kids First Family Center. For more information call Trish at Kids

The wildness park and river side have great pathways to take a bike ride! Enjoy the
beautiful nature view, and maybe see some local wild life! Also visit the local Bike
Park!

Frisbee Golf is available on the south side of 12th Street and 5th Avenue in the soccer
field area. All you need to grab is a frisbee and a friend or two!
